Clue the Movie Ad Slicks
Mint condition ad slicks--29 different sheets worth--for the original release of "Clue," starring Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Madeline Kahn. Includes ads which would be used ONLY on December 8, 1985, and memo from Paramount clarifying their use. A Very Rare item concidering that most ad slicks were thrown away after inital use. I purchased these from a man whose goal was to collect items that the theater would normally throw away. It is a very big and heavy set. Includes the whole set of 29 different Ad Slicks. Each Ad has a different heading. Some headings were of theaters playing  only one ending which says It's not just a game anymore, and other ads were for theaters playing all three endings it says A comedy with three different ending, whodunit depends on where you see it. Very hard to find, I only know of one other set that exists.

                                                So What are ad slicks?
An ad sheet (also called an ad slick) is a page or pages of camera-ready ads of varying sizes that are used in print media such as newspapers and magazines. They are prepared by the movie studios and sent to theatres and/or promotional companies. These ad sheets/slicks come in a variety of forms. Some are on 8-1/2" x 11" pages and are either bound or loosely placed within the press book or press kit. In some cases (particularly when the studios are conducting larger promotions) the ad sheets may be 20 to 30 pages bound separately and called "ad pads" or "ad supplements." Some add sheets measure 16" x 20".

The ads on these sheets can be used just like "clip art, cut out of the ad sheets/slicks and sent in to the newspaper or magazine. Some ads will contain an area where the theatre can put their name and show times. Underneath each ad is the display size information used by newspapers and magazines (i.e., 2 cols. x 100 lines 7 inches). Ad sheets/slicks can sometimes contain slogans such as "Starts Thursday" or "Coming Soon to a Theatre Near You."
