Big Attraction

"Sex and the City" stud Chris Noth was the (Mr.) Big attraction at the Boston Film Festival's opening bash last night, where he promoted his new indie flick, "Searching for Paradise."

The strapping actor, who has appeared as "Sex" gal Carrie Bradshaw's on-again-off-again flame for five years wishes fans of the cable chickvision comedy would "move on."

"It can be annoying when you're on the street and people call you that name like you're a cartoon character," he said, sounding a bit like his HBO persona.
So we guess he's thankful no one from the noontime crowd strolling Newbury Street yesterday Big-ged him while he dined al fresco at Emporio Armani!

"I took the part (on "Sex") because I wanted to stop being identified as the New York police detective," said Lenny Briscoe's original "Law & Order" partner. "And what did I do? I went from the frying pan into the fire."

In order to shake his Big image, Noth grabbed the "Searching for Paradise" role - a hotshot Hollywood actor being stalked by a woman who has lost her father.

He's also appeared on Broadway in Gore Vidal's "The Best Man" and he's Pompey the Great in TNT's upcoming production of "Julius Caesar."
So, no more "Sex and the City?"
"I have no idea," Noth said. "But I love doing comedy. They write great stuff for me. There's no reason not to do it."
