Part 3: The Ruins "Heero! Where are you going? What's this about a "guy?" You're going to be fighting again, aren't you? Answer me!!!" Relena was shouting at the top of her lungs, but it was doing her no good, as Heero was too busy piloting the shuttle to answer. Instead, he pointed to the VCD and said, "Set it to play back a television broadcast from five minutes ago." As Relena watched the recording, her eyes went wide with horror. "No! You can't go, Heero! What if something happens to you? You could die!" At this she burst into tears, and sobbed for the rest of the flight. When they arrived at the hangar where the gundams were being kept, they were greeted, surprisingly enough, by Duo. "Why does Trowa get to go and not me? I'm a better pilot than he is," Duo fumed. Heero, tired of being shouted at, explained calmly: "I'm bringing Trowa because I'm not sure what kind of opposition we'll be facing. Because of Heavyarms' ranged weaponry, Trowa can provide cover fire while I engage the enemy at close range. If you came, we'd only have close range strength. If this enemy is piloting a vehicle with a lot of firepower, we wouldn't stand a chance." "I still think I'd be more help than Trowa," Duo mumbled under his breath, "but if that's the way you want to do things, I guess there's no stopping you." Presently, Trowa came out of the hangar and explained that the preparations were complete. Heero started to walk towards the hangar doors when Relena shouted from behind him, "Don't do anything stupid, Heero, and come back alive!" Without any further conversation, the two pilots entered the hangar, climbed aboard their gundams, made their final checks, and blasted off aboard the carrier programmed to take the mobile suits to what was left of colony 06E3. "What do you think this guy wants, anyway?" asked Trowa after they had left the atmosphere. Heero shrugged, "I have no idea, but what's puzzling me is why he'd stage the fight in the wreckage of the colony Quatre destroyed." "What if it's a trap?" "Trowa, I have no doubt in my mind that it's a trap, but there's really nothing we can do about it, is there?"
