Story Book Story Chapter one Scene opens on a street side of a port village, a young boy is telling fairy tale stories to two younger boys Rain: a long, long time ago when magic was not as scarce as it is now. There were several courageous knights who had the power to see things, seconds before they happened. They went to slay the monster of the deep that lived so far out to sea that no normal ship could reach it. Child1: so how did they get there? Rain: well… they visited this great inventor who could make them a ship that, believe it or not, could fly! Child2: that’s impossible ships can’t fly Rain: they can’t any more but even before this story took place it was a common site to see flying ships Child1: really? Child2: don’t tell me you believe this nonsense! Child1: rain wouldn’t lie to us! Child2: yea, what ever I’m leaving! Rain: ok, leave but you won’t find out what happened to the knights when they sailed to the maelstrom to slay the monster a soldier walks up behind rain Soldier: that’s because you’re not gonna tell it on account of you’re under arrest Rain: huh!? As the soldier reads the yard long list of laws rain has broken, Rain: (whispering to the children) go home now kids, I’ll finish the story next week Child2: when you get out of jail Rain: I’m not going to jail! Soldier: yes you are The children run off Rain: bet you one hundred gold pieces I’m not! Soldier: oh! Your asking for it… Suddenly rain throws a small rock at the ground and he is gone within a puff of smoke Soldier: he’s gone! Hay! So is my money! As rain runs by the house were the two children live he throws the money he stole to the mother in the doorway Child1: see mom! No one can catch rain, he’s the best! Mother: lord knows what his parents think of him. If he has parents? Scene changes, rain is running down a long busy dock dodging merchants and sailors jumping over boxes swinging from crane hook to crane hook until he reaches a specific ship that is just now loading its last crate. He leaps and grabs the rope on the bottom of the box while all this time soldiers where on his tale. After the crate is loaded and the ship sets sail rain makes his way to the crows nest where he ducks down and takes a bundle out of his backpack, unwraps it and their lies an oversized egg with a white and blue swirl patterns on it. He inspects it for cracks or any type of damage, and then carefully wraps it up again, swings his cape over him and the egg he falls fast asleep. On the ship crew members get ready for the night Crewmate1: I wonder what Tina made for supper tonight Crewmate2: well you know it’s gonna smell like one thing and taste like another Crewmate2: yea… well that’s how it always is but it never tastes bad In the kitchen the captain and first mate are addressing the cook Wufei: Christina! Christina: yes captain! Wufei: I’m giving the men a drill after this meal so make it light Christina: yes sir! Trowa: and we would like you to be in the crow’s nest with the checklist monitoring every thing Wufei: and when you’re done bring the list to me so I can see who gets deck washing duty for the next month Christina: (with a devilish grin) yes sir! Christina gets back to work cooking A crewmate walks up, sniffs the air and says Crewmate1: smells like… beef and carrots with a bit of mashed potatoes on the side Christina: (sniffs the food) It does doesn’t it… to bad its fish with a side of broccoli and cheese Crewmate2: what did I tell ‘ya Mid way through dinner crewmembers begin to talk Crewmate1: have you ever heard of a true dragon Crewmate2: yea, what sea-baring sailor hasn’t Crewmate1: well there’s reason to believe that they’re not extinct Crewmate2: that’s crazy talk every one knows that all true dragons disappeared in the great migration over a millenium ago Crewmate1: but dragons lay eggs don’t they and eggs can’t migrate can they Crewmate2: yea but after the great migration the dragon eggs didn’t hatch and if the did the only thing that came out were those dragons that you see all over the place now, the small ones with no magic abilities or any thing Crewmate3: yea the ones that are used as pets and small labor animals… it’s a shame the greatest beasts to ever live, reduced to nothing greater than a dog or mule As Christina listens to the men talk she dreams of a world ware dragons roamed once again and that she could sore through the sky, over towns and oceans on the back of a great big dragon Suddenly the bell goes off and signals the drill People begin to rush about and panic to get into rank as they line up in two separate rows to the right and left of the captain’s door Wufei comes bursting out of his quarters Wufei: (he yells) REPORT TO BATTLE STATIONS! As Christina climbs to the crow’s nest every one runs about and prepares their stations for an attack, as she climbs higher and higher she begins to hear a faint snoring Christina: hmm? Could it be that there’s actually a crow in the crow’s nest…? (She shrugs her shoulders) huh? Well it would make sense I mean… AAAH! (She sees rain sleeping in the crow’s nest and nearly falls of the ladder) Dangling by one hand she’s asked by Wufei Wufei: what’s the mater? Christina: theirs a boy! Wufei: a boy? Christina: a boy! Trowa: a boy? Wufei: a boy Christina: and he’s asleep! Wufei: than wake him up! Christina: but that’s rude! Wufei: so! Christina: (shrugging her shoulders) ok? She climbs into the crows nest and pokes at rain Christina: um… excuse me… Rain: zZzZzZ Christina: (shaking him) wake up! Rain: (he mumbles and opens his one eye slightly, he sees a girls face surrounded in white) (!) (Waving his hand in a shooing motion he speaks in an annoyed tone) bha! Away with you angel I don’t feel like dying now! (He then resumes his slumber) Christina: (yelling down to Wufei) he thinks I’m and angel and wants me to go away! Wufei: (looks at Trowa with a bewildered expression) Trowa: (sighs and yells) he must be dreaming! Christina: what makes you say that! Wufei: you’re no angel! Christina: just for that, I’m not going to wake him up, besides he looks peaceful! Wufei: (addressing a crewmember) go up there and get that boy Crewmate: yes sir Christina sees the bundle and unwraps it Christina: (!) wow! She quickly wraps it back up and begins to climb down, when she gets to the bottom the crewmate climbs up, Wufei asks here what is in the bundle Christina: nothing! Trowa: did you find it on the boy? Christina: yes Wufei: give it to me Christina: uh… Wufei: now Christina: fine Just as she gives it to him the boy hits the deck face first with a laud thud Wufei: (yelling up to the crow’s nest) did you have to throw him! The crewmate shrugs his shoulders, and a laud groan is heard from the capped boy who lies face down on the deck Wufei: (handing the bundle to Trowa) get up Rain: (muffled by his cape) was I caught? Wufei: (sigh…) yes Rain: oh… that sucks! Wufei: yes it does now get up Rain: uh… no! Trowa: why not! Rain: honestly… I cant! Wufei: and why is that Rain: ask the guineas that threw me off of the crow’s nest Wufei: (sigh…) pick him up and take him to my quarters Wufei takes the bundle from Trowa and walks into his room, two shipmates pick up rain and drag him into the captain’s room, Trowa follows In the captains quarters Wufei sits in his “big chair” with a disapproving look on his face, the shipmates drop rain on the floor in front of his desk and leave, Trowa shuts the door and stands guard Wufei: tell me stowaway, what is your name Rain: (getting up and spitting blood on to the floor) my name is rain! Wufei: (!) you! Your alive! Rain: (?) wufei? Wufei: than that means that this must be… (He unfolds the bundle, eyes wide with anticipation he pears at the porcelain shell of the very last true dragon egg) you did it! I can’t believe you actually did it! If the general were still alive he would be very proud! (Nearly choking on the words he just said he wraps the egg back up again, gets up and hands it to rain) the general never told you this but… sending you down to get that egg was a suicide mission! Rain: what? Wufei: he was jealous of you rain! He knew that when we got to top of the tower you would be the one to clam the prize. He could see it in you eyes, you belonged in that tower with the dragons, because he knew that you had a special empathy with them. So hen we got there he sent you down to the hatchery to get this egg so you wouldn’t be anywhere near the top when he got there, (looking away in disgust with himself) I knew that you were gonna die down there. I knew there was no way you could survive, and I let him do it. For his own selfish desire he wanted you dead! And I did nothing to stop him! Rain: (…) Wufei: I understand how you feel right now but theirs more you need to hear. When we got to the top of the tower the general found his prize he sought for so long Rain: what was up there? Wufei: death! Wufei has a flash back Several soldiers dressed in dragon armor are walking up a flight of stairs Wufei: (whispering to duo) how do you think rain is doing? Duo: poor kid is probably dead already. Wufei: (sigh…) I’m such a coward! Where is the justice in sending people to die in vain! Duo: oh don’t you start ranting about your justice again, or the general will send you down there to Wufei: I’d rather die in vain then die a coward! General: SHUT UP ALL OF YOU! I can smell it! Where almost there! Can you smell it boys…? POWER AWAITS US! Duo: all I smell is sulfur and twenty stinky men climbing stairs in a three-foot wide hallway They continue climbing Sodier1: hay duo! What are you gonna do when you get out of here? Wufei: (to himself) if we get out of here Duo: (…) I’m gonna be a pirate! Every one begins to laugh Duo: hay! I could be a pirate if I wanted to! General: shhh! Were there! The group emerges into a large room with a glass dome over head covered with stars, and the floor with pictures of dragons swirling around a center point Wufei: the floor and the ceiling seem to be corresponding to each other Duo: man! Those ancient architects had some imagination, huh! General: you fools! This is the room in witch the ultimate dragon will be born! A dragon to rule every thing! And that dragon will be me! Duo: what! Wufei: your insane you’re not a dragon! General: but I will be! He pulls out a sword General: this sword was found in a tower on the other side of the world, directly corresponding this tower He stabs the sword in the floor in the very center of the room and pulls it back out again only it is now covered in a red liquid General: and now, whiteness the birth of the bahumat He then stabs himself through the heart, all the time laughing maniacally Duo: he… he’s crazy! He then falls to the ground in a halting silence Wufei: and dead! I’m going to find rain ???: wufei! Wufei: what? ???: you wouldn’t leave your commanding officer lying dead on the floor would you? Wufei: you sent rain to die because you were afraid of him! General: afraid? But… I fear no one (his voice turns into a laud growl) WUFEI! He rises to his feet Soldier2: hay! Look out there! Every one looks out the window and they see thousands of true dragons fly towards the tower in all directions They begin to circle the tower General: you see my friends! I’m not dead! In fact I’ve been given eternal life! Just as the words leave his mouth he begins to turn to stone General: no! I’ve been tri… The glass dome shatters Wufei: we have to get out of here Duo: I couldn’t agree more Suddenly the tower witch used to shine a bright white begins to turn gray and dull The dragons begin to turn to stone and in a great flash of light every thing stops, the wind the lighting the madness all stops Then the stone dragons begin to fall; suddenly the tower begins to sink into the see Every one rushes to escape Wufei: quick out the window duo it’s the only what to survive Wufei: (narrating) as we jump out the window duo hit his head on a stone dragon that was falling past us. When I hit the water I blacked out and woke up on a fisherman’s boat. And the rest is ancient history. After that experienced I stopped aging, and I guess it’s the same with you Rain nods his head Trowa: its late I suggest we get some rest. We’ll be arriving at for hydra in the morning Wufei nods and signals a shipmate to take rain to a room to sleep in Night falls on the pacific sea and the first chapter of a legend closes
