While Not By Choice initially garnered attention for their hometown connection to Sum 41, it's an unfortunate thing, 'cause the two bands couldn't be further apart cred-wise. With Maybe One Day, NBC prove they're punk rock lifers. Songs have heart and conviction, performances are untainted and the band actually seem like they listen to the bands they buy merch from, where you could basically slip "don't" in front of those same statements for NBC's Ajax counterparts. Crisp but slightly under-produced, the album buries solid drumming to toe the pop-punk guitar chug line. In turn, it sacrifices true attention-grabbing balls, but I'm sure that won't stop the bondage pants kids from flooding Much with requests for "Standing All Alone."
