In the wake of the left-field multi-platinum success of Ajax's own Sum 41, Linus Entertainment has signed up Ajax-based Not By Choice.
The band was scheduled to open Unwritten Law's show Tuesday night at the Opera House. Not By Choice has also lined up a summer cross-Canada tour with Sum 41, as part of the Pepsi Taste Tour 2002, according to their official website (www.notbychoice.com).
Not By Choice caused a stir last year opening shows for Goldfinger and Pennywise. They also performed on the Warped Tour and have a spot on this summer's July 1 Edgefest show in Barrie, Ont.
Linus Entertainment -- which is also home to Ron Sexsmith, Tuuli and By Divine Right -- plans to release Not By Choice's debut album in September.
The group is preparing to enter the studio with producer John Whynot (Big Wreck, Blue Rodeo, Bruce Cockburn) to record the album, which will be distributed by Warner Music Canada.
