Big Sugar, Sarah Slean, Not By Choice Celebrate Toronto

The sixth annual Toronto Street Festival will brighten up Canada�s largest city from July 4 to July 6. The festival will take place along Yonge Street at five different locations: Dundas, Eglinton, Bloor, Lawrence and St. Clair. Each of the locations has a different vibe showing the diversity within the city. Over a million people are expected to come out and take part in the fun.

The Dundas and Eglinton locations will be featuring rock acts while Bloor will have world music and hip-hop. St. Clair will be for jazz and classical lovers and Lawrence will be set up for the kiddies. The admission to all events is free, making this celebration of the city even sweeter.

The festival kick-off will take place at Yonge and Eglinton at 8 p.m. on the July 4. That concert features Sarah Slean plus Gordie Johnson and Kelly Hoppe of Big Sugar, who will go acoustic for the show. During the concert, theatrical troupe Strange Fruit will be performing about 15 feet above the music.

ther performers at Yonge and Eglinton throughout the weekend will include pop songstress Melanie Doane, singer/songwriter Nathan Wiley, Australian folk-pop band The Waifs and Torontonian Andy Stochansky.

Yonge and Dundas will be kicked off with something called Club Yonge on July 5. The even will feature a high-energy concert by The Salads and pop-punk stars Not By Choice. The stage will also feature some new rock bands like The Dears, Pilate, By Divine Right, The Weekend and Grindig throughout the weekend.

The Dundas site will not be restricted to music, but will also feature The Tower Of Power ski and snowboard show along with mountain bike and skateboarding tricks provided by Aerial Daredevils and Craz-E-Crew Stunt Team. Something called Beach Blast will also happen at this corner and will find the public competing in beach volleyball matches with Olympic athletes.
