Dayton Suburb's Cheapest Spots
I have lived in the Dayton area all my life, and i realize that everyone thinks that is boring and there is nothing to do here. I beg to differ. I will admit that many times, I too, have complained of the lack of entertainment for teens in the area, but I think that everyone is looking in the wrong places for fun things to do. I have three rules to live by in entertaining myself here in my little suburb. They are as follows:
1) Don't worry about being cool. If you see someone you know, and you are embarassed by being there, remember, they are there too. They have NO reason to be making fun of you! 2) You don't have to pay lots of money to have fun. The movies do cost a lot of money, but think cheap. Very simple things are fun, and don't cost a lot of money. One exapmle: Playing Hide-and-go-seek in the grocery store. 3) Don't complain about things being boring. It's all in you head, buddy. If you sit around saying "This is boring, there's nothing around here to do" If you do, then you will get bored. If you don't let yourself be bored, then you will have fun.
Places to go
Borders Books and Music I spend most of my time here, Friday nights there is music, and hey, its free! 2040 Miamisburg Centerville Road Dayton, Ohio, 45459 454-3800 The Gathering Grounds Another cheap place to go to hear music. It's $5 most nights to get in, but in my opinion, it's well worth it. Also this is an exelent place to hang out, because it is a Christan atsomphere. The club is run for teens, and i feel that it is very safe. This place fills up pretty fast a lot of nights, so come early. 4938 Wilmington Pike Kettering, Ohio, 45440 298-9838 Bills Donuts Shop A Centerville Classic! Come here for cheap food and drinks. Open 24 hours a day. I think these doughnuts kick ass. Most days if you go in, you can meet Bill himself! 268 N. Main Street Centerville, Ohio 455-0002 Danberry Dollar Saver's South If you insist on going to the movies, here's the place to go. The tickets are under $2.50 each, but the food is what breaks the bank. I find it better to go here during the day, at night it is often times crowded, so there are long lines for everything, the tickets, the food, and the bathrooms. Another problem with going at night is that people seem to think that they are the only ones in the theatre, and tend to talk a lot. I want to hurt these people. 8300 Lyons Ridge Road Miamisburg, Ohio 291-2680 Thrift Store Shopping One of my favorite past times! There are many thirft stores in the Dayton area, in my opinion, some are better than others. I can spend hours going through the endless racks of people's old clothing. I have found many interesting items. Among everything my friends and I have bought at thirft stores, these are my favorites: Pink "I'm a Cypress Bay Resort River Rat" tee shirt, a bicycle jersey, a skirt made from an old cleckered table cloth, a graduation gown, a naked Michael Jackson doll, a bowling ball, a multi-colored patch purse, and an 80's style prom dress. The Salvation Army 2020 Miamisburg-Centerillve Road Miamisburg, Ohio 433-8044 Goodwill Centerville 671 Miamisburg-Centerville Road Centerville, Ohio 434-5335 St. Vincent Depaul's 945 Edwin C. Moses Bl Dayton, Ohio 222-5555 There are many more thrift stores in the area, but I suggest these to start out with. St. Vincent's is a long drive, but worth it, it is very large, and it sells both new and used merch. Always remeber...you can also have fun at your own house by comming back to my site and signing my guestbook!
