ASHLEY MONTAGU
By virtue of being born to humanity, every human being has a right to the development and fulfillment of his potentialities as a human being.

I am convinced that when the intellectual history of our times comes to be written, the idea of race, both the popular and the taxanomic, will be viewed for what it is:  a confused and dangerous idea which happened to fit the social requirements of a throughly exploitative period in the development of Western man.

In teaching it is the method and not the content that is the message... the drawing out, not the pumping in.

It is the mark of the cultured man that he is aware of the fact that equality is an ethical and not a biological principle.

The deepest personal defeat suffered by human beings is constituted by the difference between what one was capable of becoming and what one has in fact become.

What so many human beings in the modern world have failed to understand is that
freedom is the greatest of all trusts.
