As you all know, the holiday season is upon us again. This has given me the chance to go off, let off some steam, if you will, about some of the things that annoy the hell outta me. Hopefully, you reading this will bring these burdens to your attention. So you (the reader) and I will be able to operate on the same plain or be able to see where I am coming from no less.
First off, we all know the "holiday season" kicks off on the first day after Thanksgiving. This day is also the busiest shopping day of the year, as far as I am concerned. The thing is, Americans are dumb. Okay? Everybody, I don't care who you are, everybody knows this is the busiest day of the year. Yet, we dumb Americans choose to go out on this day, and we know its busy, but we do it anyways. Why do we do this? You people know its going to be hell out there! It would be so much easier on the public if people would just spread their shopping schedule out a bit. Of course, there is the fact, and I am fully aware of, that buisness's (i.e. Best Buy) plan their sales this way. Always giving the "huge sales" the day after Turkey Day, so this is basicly a fight I can not win.
It always comes down to the point where I have to ask the people I am buying gifts for, what they want for X-Mas. And it is always a struggle. I ask them what they want and they tell me they dont want anything. This is what every conversation boils down to:
ME: So what do you want for christmas? OTHER: Oh don't worry about getting me a gift... ME: No, really, I wan't to get you something. OTHER: I really don't need anything. Don't waste your money on me. Just worry about getting "so-and-so" a gift... ME: Listen, I am going to, I have to, get you something. So please... OTHER: Well, I could use a...blah, blah, blah...
So as you see, I would much rather cut the crap, and have the person stop acting like they don't want me to get them anything, and tell me what they want. Cause everybody wants gifts for Christmas, they just don't want to ask for it, or admit it. Cause you/I know that if you actually didn't buy that person a gift, like they begged you not to, you/I would become "Asshole of The Year".
Then there is always Christmas with the family. Thanksgiving is basicly a warm-up for this. You get together with family members, who you hardly see, and you both have to act like you actually enjoy each others company. Which you both know is bullshit. What makes this incredibley difficult is that you have to buy these people, that you see once a year (maybe twice in the course of a funeral or a wedding), a gift. Like your supposed to know what their likes/interests are (of course this problem can be solved by two words: Gift Certificate. But this wont help with the fact that you're going to get a shitty gift).
I know! I know! You're probably saying "Hey man, why don't you fucking chill out? What's your problem?" These are just some of the negative things to this time of the year. Maybe it's just me...I dunno. But Christmas time is also a very happy time of the year too. I just want you to know I know this. Heck, the holiday season gives me the oppertunity to listen to some good Christmas music. I am one of those people that feel guilty listening to Christmas music at any other time of the year. But I am getting off the subject...I hope you, all my friends and loved ones, have a great Holiday and New Year...THE END IS NEAR!! (just kidding, hehe..)
