I don't know about you, but I never have enough time.

The opportunities to hit the open road on the motorcyle and have some adventures NEVER come along often enough or last long enough to suit me. I need to make the most of the time that I have available. I've found a couple books that are indespensible in planning road trips, outings, and group rides.

I've included a short review of the titles here, as well as links to the books on the Amazon.com website so you can purchase them from them online. If you decide that you like the books and wish to buy them, please do so by clicking on the links provided here. That way, Amazon.com will help support the continued presence of this site and help us grow!!

Texas, Off the Beaten Path (3rd edition)

This is the latest edition of a classic book. It divides the state up into areas (panhandle, north texas, etc.). The OTHER travel guides may list the tourist traps and crowded spots... but this book sticks to the backroads and unique spots that this state has in abundance. Museums, diners, historical spots, parks.... its all in here! I've found that it is a wonderful tool to help give me ideas of particular destinations that sound interesting. I pick one out, we plan a route, and hit the road!!

Thats what its all about!

The Roads of Texas, Atlas

Once I've decided where it is I'm heading, its time to plan my route. Thats where this wonderful atlas comes in handy. All of the other maps that I've used devote themselves with showing you the shortest, fastest, and BLANDEST way to get from point A to point B. This map, on the other hand, has EVERY road in Texas, along with the little communities, cemetaries, oilfields, missions, forts, and ghosttowns!

You'd never know it looking at the other major maps, but Texas has over 41,000 miles of paved Farm to Market (FM) roads. THATS the way to see the country! Not on a six lane expressway!! I'm currently on my second copy of this map. I wore the first one out!
