You Like Girls by Devin Ens

I covered your doorstep with roses
A sent you a picture of me
But no matter how hot my pose is
I can't make you weak at the knees

I thought that I was too quiet
Or maybe I needed a shave
But when I decided to try it
You said I looked better, but you didn't cave

I thought that I'd found a soul-mate
Someone who likes Paul McCartney
But on what I thought was our third date
I found something very disheartening:
You never tried to get closer
And when we ran into my sister
You acted like someone who knows her
And now it makes sense to me why you kissed her

I thought that we were on the same page
I guess I should not assume anything in this age
'Cos you like girls, you like girls
Sometimes you make me sorry to be a boy

The night we watched "Yentl"
You saw the tears in me welling
And as you spoke to me gentle
I had no way of telling
Where this thing was leading
How I should repay your kindness
But I see I was reading
While suffering from blindness

I thought that we were on the same page
I guess I should not assume anything in this age
'Cos you like girls, you like girls
Sometimes you make me sorry to be a boy

I'm standing before you
Microphone in hand
To confess I adore you
But that I'm just a man
And you like girls, you like girls, you like girls...

I like you.
