Safe In Mine
by Devin EnsYour knives are burnt, your razor’s rusty, the mirror has finally cracked
There’s an entire tribe of monkeys trying to climb your back
You can’t see the foliage, no matter how I pine
Trees get toppled, but you’ll be safe in mine
A walking contradiction, you’re suspicious yet naive
Every man claims to be the saviour, you don’t know who to believe
Your almost perfect body was born without a spine
Backs get broken, but you’ll be safe on mine
There was never a time when any buck you folded was worth a dime
There has never been a place where you woke up and weren’t ashamed to see your neighbour’s face
Your taste is sour, touching burns, the soul has left your eyes
You hear all the truth, but only listen to the lies
You say that you hate your life, then claim that all is fine
Your hands are helpless, but they’ll be safe in mine
