Unit Lesson 5
Topic: Begin your first-draft.
Set Induction: Ask students whether they learned a lot about their text. Do they have any questions? What issues have been raised by answering the questions? Do you think you have enough information to summarize you text? What would help you to understand the text more? Do you need to study more background information?
Terminal Objective: Students will begin to synthesize the information of the text in their first formal-evaluation.
Enabling Objectives: Students will identify the most important questions relating to understanding their text. Students will identify weaknesses in their understanding the their text. Students will identify strengths of their understanding. Students will begin writing their first-draft using their journal entries.
Activity: Students will spend the majority of the class outlining and writing their first-draft. Students will be required to submit another draft, and then the final. The teacher should ensure that students understand the assignment and what they are expected to do.
Closure: Tomorrow I want you to make some changes to your draft and bring them to class. You should gather additional materials to help you better understand your topic as well.
