| Push for the Playoffs | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The second half of the season officially started Week 7, and the playoff races are all close. Only a few teams are turning their focus to next year, but this is about the teams that are looking to the playoffs. Among them are some familiar faces, but there are some new teams who are joining the hunt for December. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| AFC | NFC | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pirates (5-2, 726.17): The Pirates are currently the top team in the AFC. They are proving their hot start not to be a fluke and are distancing themselves from the rest of the division. This team is lead by the one and only Donovan McNabb and unless he falters down the stretch, this team is a lock for the AFC West title. Prediction: AFC West Champions |
| Flaming Stewies (7-0, 774.37): The defending champs of the league have started the season on fire and have run away with an early lead in the NFC East. The Stewies have a soft schedule coming up and are looking to improve on their undefeated mark. With a two game lead over the closest division rivals and three games above the third place team in the Wild Card race, the Stewies are nearly a lock for playoffs and a shot at defending their title. Prediction: NFC East Champions |
| Detroit Wolverines (5-2, 696.73): The Wolverines got off to one of the best starts in the league, starting 5-0. Since then they have fallen on some tough matchups, losing twice in a row to teams scoring over 100 points. Despite the losses, they still sit on top of the stacked AFC East with every team clipping at their heals. The Wolverines should win their two of their next three, solidifying their position in the AFC East before divisonal play begins again to finish the season. However, in such a tough division, the outcome is hard predict. Watch out for Week 9, as the top two teams in the AFC in the Pirates and Wolverines go head to head for the only time in the regular season. Prediction: AFC Wild Card Winner |
| Anal at Bandcamp (5-2, 673.44): Coming off a record-breaking performance in Week 7, the, uh... Bandcampers are well on their way to another NFC West division crown. With a healthy Carson Palmer, Brian Westbrook and Marvin Harrison, there is no reason why this team will not be fighting for the NFC Championship as well as the league title in December. Prediction: NFC West Champions |
| Capt. Acorn (4-3, 620.41): The Acorn squad started the season hot, posting a 4-1 mark after Week 5. Questions about the team actually contending for a title this year have arose from their two losing efforts the past two weeks, falling in a tough game to the Cat Milkers as well as scoring just 42 points in a loss to R.O.C. Acorn has been riding that Bear's Defense which has been the top performer on this team, but if they do not come through any given week, look for another dismal performace like Week 7. Prediction: 3rd in NFC Wild Card |
| Toronto Argonauts (4-3, 656.67): The defending AFC Champs have been a little off this season, with a slow start from Larry Johnson and the injury to Shawn Alexander. However, they were still 4-1 before falling to a pair of teams from the NFC, despite averaging close to 100 points in both games. With Shawn Alexander's return set to come soon, the Argonauts look to be the top of the AFC soon. Prediction: AFC East Champions |
| Motown Cat Milkers (4-3, 619.13): The Cat Milkers have taken full advantage of the struggles of the teams ahead of them by winning their third in a row this past week. The Cat Milkers are currently tied for the top Wild Card spot, but need to take full advantage of some of the weak matchups coming up in order to stay in the playoff picture. Prediction: 3rd in AFC Wild Card |
| Hotsauce (4-3, 609.18): Hotsauce has been a roller coaster ride so far this year, but look to try to stay alive through the next few weeks despite a harsh schedule to end the year. However, unless hotsauce completely falls apart, they are in good shape to head into the playoffs with a Wild Card spot. Prediction: 2nd in NFC Wild Card |
| El Paso Bandits (3-4, 618.82): Los Banditos have turned things completely around after starting the season 0-4. With a three strong wins in a row with at nearly 100 points per game, the Bandits are back in the hunt. Nobody except the owner of the Bandits could have predicted such a turn around, but they have gotten themselves back into the form that won the top AFC Wild Card spot just a year ago. Just three weeks ago this team looked dead, now they have a good shot at climbing into the Wild Card lead after the next three weeks, and look for this team to be in the playoffs again this year. Prediction: Second in AFC Wild Card |
| Vilma=God (3-4, 571.22): Vilma has been struggling to put points on the board thanks to the performances of Dante Culpepper, who was expected to be the leader of this franchise at the start of last year. Despite losing any fantasy production from Culpepper, Vilma still finds itself in the chase for a Wild Card spot, one they should be rather confident in. They have to go up against the two teams ahead of them in the Wild Card race, so Vilma does control its own destiny. These guys probably have the best shot at a spot due to two games down the stretch against very poor teams. Prediction: NFC Wild Card Winner |
| Cleveland Quagmires (3-4, 598.69): The Quags took a tough loss this past week to hotsauce, but can still keep their hopes alive with a victory this week over the Flaming Stewies. However, if the Quags come up lame with another 60 points effort, then they will be watching the playoffs at home again this year. Prediction: 4th in AFC Wild Card |
| N.E. Chowderheads (2-5), Tarnt Bushes (2-5), Finsmagic (1-6): These three teams have ran out of chances to get into the race and make a run for a spot. Only an unlikely turnaround would put these teams in position to compete. These three teams have struggled all season on their way to being the bottom three in total points in the entire league. These teams are looking to next season where they will hope to have much improved seasons. But do not forget, these three can still play the spoiler role down the stretch. Predition: N.E.: 4th, Fins: 5th, Bushes: 6th in NFC Wild Card |
| R.O.C. (3-4, 508.83): R.O.C. is another team that has picked up the pace in past weeks, winning two in a row. It is a surprise that this team is even in the playoff picture at this point, but don't expect them to tear up the league the next few weeks with three games in a row against top teams. Prediction: 5th in AFC Wild Card |
| Kringles (1-6, 532.89): The Kringels started the season with a win and it appeared they may have had a shot at repeating its success from last year. However, a six game slide has tied them with the worst slide in the history of the league, and need to win out to get even see a ray of hope for the playoffs. Prediction: 6th in AFC Wild Card |
