Week 7 Midterm Report
Half way through the season and only one AFC team is over .500 while 6 teams in the NFC fight over 4 playoff spots.  Through the first half, here are some overachievers and underachievers with a few MVP's.
AFC West
Somerville Spartans
The Spartan's record does not reflect how good this team has been this year.  This team could easily be 5-2 after losing two games by two points despite scoring 116 in one and 123 in the other.  With the best running back group in the league starting to produce, there's no doubt this team is title material.  Already leading the hopeless AFC West the Spartans will run away with the division in the second half.
Spartan Facts:
Record: 3-4
2007 W-L: 9-4
Points: 729.43

Div. Standing: #1
MVP: Larry Fitzgerald
Bust: Roy Williams
Patriots Dynasty
So far, Pat's Dynasty has been more impressive that expected in terms of standings.  In terms of record and points, they have performed exactly as expected.  Normally, a 3-4 record and averaging 71 points per week will leave a team too far behind for a real shot.  This is not your average AFC as the Pat's Dynasty currently holds the #2 wild card spot.  What is most interesting about this club is what the second half holds.  While the recievers are horrible, the Brees-LT combo is capable of making things close.  Add in the new starting runningback for the New England Patriots and this team might stay in this race a bit longer.

MVP: Drew Brees
Bust: LaDainian Tomlinson
Pirates
Last year's AFC Champs are in big trouble.  Despite the breakout of Jay Cutler, the Pirates can't seem to win any games.  With Ronnie Brown back producing big numbers, the Pirates are desperate for Chad Ocho Cinco to get his act together.  If all three can start putting up numbers at the same time then this team could be on the rise.  However, Ocho Cinco appears to have lost his quarterback, defenses seem to have figured out Brown's Wild Cat offense and Cutler hurt his throwing hand in week 7.  Things look bad right now as it might be time to sell.

Div. Standing: #3

MVP: Jay Cutler

Georgia Gappers
There is some good news and some bad news for this years worst team in the league.  The good news is that the Gappers have seen increased production lately and face the worst in the NFC this week.  The bad news is they are about 5 points per week shy of the worst pace in history for an entire season.  While the roster on this team is pretty bad, they at least have a full roster every time out.  Rookie manager Spencer is giving it his all this year and has made some good pickups, but it just hasn't been enough to record a win.  Look for better things next year.
Gapper Facts:
Record: 0-7
2007 W-L: 5-8

Div. Standing: #4
Wild Card: #6
MVP: Matt Ryan

Toronto Argonauts
This year hasn't been the hard knock year the Argonauts suffered through last season, but the 5-2 record leaves more to be desired.  The pre-season Super Bowl favorite suffered a big injury to Tom Brady but has mortgaged his future (appropriately) to get Brett Favre.  The strength of this team has been at reciever with Terrel Owens and Andre Johnson but it was the runningbacks that looked the scariest in the pre-season.  Rudi Johnson lost his job to reclaim another one and proceed to ruin that running game. Larry Johnson reportedly spit in a woman's face which resulted in suspension.  Fred Taylor has only been effective at giving up most of his carries to Jones-Drew.  Marion Barber has been the only productive one, but his production has been hit or miss.  With a two game lead in the division, the Argonauts can figure things out without worrying about falling behind.
Argonaut Facts:
Record: 5-2
2007 W-L: 8-5
Points: 708.79
Points per Week: 101.26
Div. Standing: #1
MVP: Marion Barber
Bust: Fred Taylor
El Paso Bandits
Curse or no cures, at least the Bandits didn't lose the sibling rivalry this week.  Looking over this team, there is no way they should be struggling to stay above the fray in the division.  Every position has produced this year and even the backups have done well.  With Marques Colston coming returning to form after injury, the Bandits should also start seeing more wins.  Their point total has not been great this year, but the squad as a whole is underachieving and getting their top WR option back will make this team dangerous.
Bandits Facts:
Record: 3-4
2007 W-L: 4-9
Points: 577.54
Points per Week: 82.5
Div. Standing: #2
Wild Card: #1
MVP: Philip Rivers
Bust: Matt Leinart
Columbus Liquid Courage
The CLC raced out to a great start this year and returned to their early 2007 form where they were the 2007 version of the Gappers.  Eli Manning was on top of his game through the first few weeks, but lately has fallen back to being an average quarterback while only Kurt Warner has managed more points on this team.  Other than the QB's, Antonio Gates leads the scoring with 61 and nobody else is above 50.  The declining production peaked last week as the CLC was outscored by the entire league.  This club is still in the playoff hunt, but look for some changes before the deadling for the extra boost.
CLC Facts:
Record: 3-4
2007 W-L: 3-10
Points: 487.73
Points per Week: 69.68
Div. Standing: #3
Wild Card: #3
MVP: Kurt Warner
Bust: Darren McFadden
Mill Creek Bulldogs
Taking over mid-season, new owner Nate has been surprisingly successful.  Taking over the neglected team, the Bulldogs added a couple players to fill out the roster and add some depth the team desperately needed.  Despite the declined production this year from Adrien Peterson and Peyton Manning, they are still in the hunt.  The key for the second half is to get those players back in the mix and these guys will be playoff worthy again.
Bulldog Facts:
Record: 3-4
2007 W-L: 10-3
Points: 468.92

Div. Standing: #4
Wild Card: #4
MVP: Frank Gore

Anal at Bandcamp
The breakout of Brandon Marshall has been overshadowed by injuries to Carson Palmer and Brian Westbrook.  While Maurice Jones-Drew and TJ Housh have been productive as well, AABC desperately misses the production out of the two franchise players.  Westbrook has a shot at coming back soon which can change the outlook of the future, but Palmer appears to be done for a while contemplating Tommy John.  AABC, like the Argonauts, are not the favorite they were at the start of the year, but still has a great shot a playoff success.
AABC Facts:
Record: 5-2
2007 W-L: 11-2
Points: 696.75
Points per Week: 99.55
Div. Standing: #1
MVP: Brandon Marshall
Bust: Carson Palmer
Vilma=God
Vilma=God has stuck with the founding name of the franchise despite the movement of Johnathan Vilma to New Orleans, but things seem to be clicking anyways.  After breifly holding the top spot in the division, Vilma is in the thick of the playoff race with their 5-2 record.  This team has missed the playoffs in the first three years of the league, usually just barely, and appear set this year with a strong roster.  This conference will be tough, however, with the Chowderheads and Hotsauce both fighting for Vilma's wild card spot.
Vilma Facts:
Record: 5-2
2007 W-L: 6-7
Points: 692.74
Points per Week: 98.96
Div. Standing: #2
Wild Card: #2
MVP: Aaron Rodgers
Bust: Willis McGahee
N.E. Chowderheads
The Chowderheads hardly have a bust on their roster, just a group of good talent performing well and a group of backups doing poorly as expected.  However, JTO's production the past few weeks earnes him the bust title.  Meanwhile, last year's NFC top wild card winner has been making a comeback after a very poor 1-3 start.  Their point average tells the story of their success in winning weeks as they have been hit or miss all year.  In their wins this year, they have scored 127, 108, 108 and 79 plus N.E. had one 90+ point effort in a loss.  This team has the players it needs for a playoff run, but the NFC might be too deep this year for title contention.
Chowderhead Facts:
Record: 4-3
2007 W-L: 9-4
Points: 640.59
Points per Week: 91.51
Div. Standing: #3
Wild Card: #3
MVP: Reggie Bush
Bust: J.T. O'Sullivan
Kellens Kunt Krushers
This is an example of a bad team getting worse.  The Kunt Krushers have gone from 10 losses to a projected 2-11 season, which would tie the worst record in league history. Their point average is just over the Gappers, but is also below the pace for the worst point total in history.  This coming week should decide which team will be the worst in the league this year.
Kunt Krusher Facts:
Record: 1-6
2007 W-L: 3-10
Points: 366.27
Points per Week: 52.32
Div. Standing: #4
Wild Card: #6
MVP: Donovan McNabb
Bust: Laurence Maroney
NFC West
Denver Roncos
The Roncos are one win away from the best start in league history and has matched the Atlanta Falcons (now Hotsauce)  of the 2005 season.  The Roncos also stand as the only team in position to beat the best record in the regular season.  They are 5 points behind the pace for most points in a season set in 2006 by the Stewies, but are still the most dominating team this year.  Last week, even without Romo, they Roncos still managed 90+ points in a win over a tough Vilma=God team.  There's no reason to think the wins won't keep rolling in as this team could make history.
Ronco Facts:
Record: 7-0
2007 W-L: 10-3
Points: 743.91
Points per Week: 106.27
Div. Standing: #1
MVP: Tony Romo
Bust: Ryan Grant
Flaming Stewies
The Stewies are currently dealing with injuries to Joseph Addai and Willie Parker, but replacements LeRon McClain and Mewelde Moore have replaced them nicely so far.  The quarterbacks for the Stewies have been disapointing at best with both just under 50 points on the season.  The team has been mostly consistent except for week six's 45 point bust.  In the AFC this team would be a lock, but a loss or two could cost this team a playoff spot.
Stewies Facts:
Record: 5-2
2007 W-L: 7-6
Points: 702.75
Points per Week: 100.39
Div. Standing: #2
Wild Card: #1
MVP: Santana Moss
Bust: Joseph Addai
Hotsauce
Hotsauce has provided some excitement for this year, knocking off two undefeated teams in two weeks to earn the title of Dragon Slayer.  They might get their chance again with a game against the Roncos coming up...  As for the season, after dropping their first three, Hotsauce finally caught some breaks and has ripped off 4 in a row since.  The remarkable comeback has Hotsauce just one game out of the wild card, but faces an uphill battle in the crowded NFC playoff picture.
Hotsauce Facts:
Record: 4-3
2007 W-L: 4-9
Points: 634.06
Points per Week: 90.58
Div. Standing: #3
Wild Card: #4
MVP: Reggie Wayne
Bust: Kevin Smith
Capt Acorn
There's no doubt that Acorn's three wins are a fluke, as their best contributer has been their defense.  Despite being in the same scoring group with the Gappers and Kunt Krushers, Acorn has managed 2 more wins than both teams combined.  Acorn will fall out of the race as they are now 2 games back, but could be trouble for some teams if Derek Anderson and keep his job and return to form.
Acorn Facts:
Record: 3-4
2007 W-L: 4-9
Points: 423.23
Points per Week: 60.46
Div. Standing: #4
Wild Card: #5
MVP: Bears Def
Bust: Derek Anderson
