| The Wild Wild Wild Wild Card Race |

| In what appears to be the closest and most crowded wild card race in league history, 12 of the possible 14 teams are either tied for a spot or one game out of one. No lead is safe as the new faces to the playoff picture are forcing their way in and making hell for the perennial contenters. | ||||||||
| AFC #1 Columbus Liquid Courage (3-3) - Doc Holliday's bunch are technically on top of the AFC wild card race, but there are 4 teams directly below him. Under Holliday's first year as head coach, the CLC have already matched last year's win total. He has attributed this success to his quarterbacks Eli Manning and Kurt Warner while openly critizicing the rest of his squad for not keeping up. The three wins have been good, but its never enough for ownership which expects nothing less than a championship. #2 El Paso Bandits (2-4) - The Bandits have inexplicably dropped 4 in a row desptie having some winable matchups. Now they face a new challenge as the bye bug will bite this week leaving the Bandits with only Lendale White and Ryan Torian at running back. They face their biggest challenge of the year next week as they need a win to stay in the conversation after losing week 6 despite 95 points. The Bandits face the Georgia Gappers in the first installment of Goal Line's only "SibLing Rivalry." The Gappers have a shot at their first win and they could send El Paso to their 5th straight loss and into the AFC cellar. #3 Pirates (2-4) - Last year's AFC representative in the Super Bowl has struggled again at the start of the year but are still in the mix. The Pirates do have a soft schedule through the rest of the year and will face teams in their own division 4 more times. Any team facing the AFC West 4 times in 7 games has a shot at a very strong finish. The Pirates did make the playoffs at 6-7 last year, so just beating the division down the stretch could be enough for the post-season. #4 Patriots Dynasty (2-4) - The Pats Dynasty might have an even easier schedule than the Pirates, but the two teams have yet to have their two matchups this year. Thanks to the LT sighting this weekend, this team may be in play this year as the LT-Brees combination could carry the entire roster to the playoffs. Any time these two players suit up, the Patriots Dynasty are as dangerous as any other team. #5 Mill Creek Bulldogs (2-4) - Credit last week's win over the Bandits for their current standing here. You can also thank that win for the current cluster of 2-4 teams we have now. The new owner took over mid-season and quickly added some depth to a team with plenty of marquee players. Peyton Manning has gotten back on track and if Adrian Peterson can do the same then this team could be playoff bound again. Remeber, this team won the division last season. #6 Georgia Gappers (0-6) - It would take 7 straight to end the year to make the playoffs, but look for the young owner to get his first win in the next couple weeks. NFC #1 Anal at Bandcamp (4-2) - WHHHHHAAAAAT?! For the first time EVER, AABC is not leading the NFC West. After dropping the game of the week against the Roncos, AABC fell behind Vilma=God in the division and now have some ground to make up. This team is in serious trouble though with injuries to franchise players Carson Palmer and Brian Westbrook. Palmer's season might be in jeopardy with whispers of him needing Tommy John surgery and Westbrook seems to get a different body part injured every week. There is only so much Brandon Marshall and Maruice Jones-Drew can do without the star players and if Palmer and Westbrook are out for long, this pre-season favorite could crumble. #2 Flaming Stewies (4-2) - Speaking of Crumbling, the Stewie running backs have decided they would mimic Westbrook to some degree. Although the least they could do is sit out the game with warning instead of leaving in the first quarter as Joseph Addai did last week. Addai's status is uncertain, but the return of Willie Parker from injury and 2007 team MVP Ben Roethlisberger from bye could start turning things around agian. Taking the division isn't out of the question with Ronco's star QB out for 4 weeks, but they still have to earn it. #3 N.E. Chowderheads (3-3) - Still trying to get back on track, the Chowderheads are now back into the thick of the race. The only problem is that they are in a crowded 3-3 bunch looking to knock the Stewies out of their spot. Out of the 3-3 hopefuls, the Chowderheads have the best shot. With Reggie Bush carrying the team, N.E. has a chance but needs another big time player to help out. #4 Hotsauce (3-3) - Dead in the water 3 weeks ago, Hotsauce beat two undefeated teams to get the ball rolling and looks to keep chugging along. As if the first three weeks never happened, Hotsauce has relied on Reggie Wayne and Bernard Berrian lately and it has been enough for 3 big wins. Their recovery, along with the Chowderheads, has made what looked like a locked up division look very interesting heading into the second half. #5 Capt Acorn (3-3) - While at .500 and just 1 game out, Capt Acorn has virtually no shot. When it comes to the wild card, teams rarely finish a game ahead of the others and Capt Acorn has been horribe in terms of points scored. Without even being in the running for that tiebreaker, there is little chance of the post-season. #6 Kellens Kunt Krushers (1-5) - With some other teams having surprising success, there is good news. This team is in line for a top two pick at the moment which was a pick that helped turn the CLC around. |
