| The Big Games: Anal at Bandcamp (2-0) 118.88 over Somerville Spartans (1-1) 116.22 The Game of the Week lived up to expectations as AABC had a huge come from behind victory this week. The Spartans ended Sunday with 116.22 which looked like a stretch for AABC to cover with only Brian Westbrook going Monday Night. Westbrook dazzeled, picking up 29 points to go along with other high scorer Brandon Marshall (32!) to come from way behind to edge out the Spartans. The Spartans got the hard loss this week, despite 20+ from TE Tony Scheffler and another good game from Plaxico Burress. Despite the loss, the Spartans remain in first by one game as everyone else in the division lost this week. AABC moves in front of Vilma, who was previosly in first due to points, and holds a one game lead as well. El Paso Bandits (2-0) 94.54 over Pirates (0-2) 87.80 These two teams finished #8 and #9 in scoring this week so the Bandits have to feel a little fortunate for their schedule, while the Pirates' decent week was wasted. Philip Rivers and Calvin Johnson carried the team this week with 24 points each and gives some hope to the Bandits moving forward. The Bandits did appear before the season to be ready for a big year, and this win keeps the Bandits on pace with the Argonauts for what will be an exciting divison and wild card race in the AFC West. The Pirates have to feel better about this week with a much better showing than in Week 1. Jay Cutler busted out with 30 points and got just enough help elsewhere for a respectable score. The Pirates have the Spartans next week, so an 0-3 start seems very possible, but coming back to the playoff race is still expected. Flaming Stewies (2-0) 123.27 over N.E. Chowderheads (0-2) 54.54 After getting robbed in Week 1, the Chowderheads fell flat again but also ran into another good week from their opponent. The Chowderheads had three zeros one the day but got a great day out of team leader Reggie Bush. Meanwhile, the Stewies kept clicking on all cylinders getting 20+ from the defense and Santana Moss. Anthony Gonzalez and Donald Driver both chipped in 15 as well leading to the easy victory. The surprising part here in Week 2 is the Chowderheads 0-2 record. After making the playoffs last year, they seemed ready for another run. However, instead of challenging AABC for the division crown, they will have to turn things around next week against the Kunt Krushers to remain a factor early on. The Upsets: Kellens Kunt Krushers (1-1) 60.52 over Detroit Wolverines (1-1) 52.67 The Wolverines fell short in this one and had a good shot despite the awful week. A team with no depth, Detroit had one more guys score (6) than not (5) which isn't a going to win many games. The Kunt Krushers didn't fare much better, but got 15 from rookie runner Jonathan Stewart and 14 from his kicker. The loss for the Wolverines though puts them in last for now, one game back of the division leaders who appear on the verge of running away this year. Columbus Liquid Courage (1-1) 113.60 over Patriots Dynasty (0-2) 54.42 Columbus beating an opponent who scores 54 is not news, but when the worst team from last year scores 100+ there's some cause for concern. Everyone saw McFadden have a huge day, but he was only the fifth highest scorer this week! Coach Holliday got better days out of Eli Manning, Torry Holt, Bryant Johnson and the San Francisco defense. Plus, Kurt Warner picked up 20 points from the bench. This week should make owner Shane feel warm and fuzzy, but 100+ point outbursts will be few and far between. As far as making a big run this year, they might in the discussion until late this year. |
