Somerville Spartans 88.30 over Columbus Liquid Courage 64.19 Surprise Rating: 2 Even Coach Doc Holiday gave up before the second half and hit the bottle of this 22 point Spartan victory. The L.C. starts this year with another loss with his second best performer on his bench. Not that it mattered, because the Spartans took the lead Thursday and never looked back with 16 from Plax and 22 from rookie Eddie Royal. Only surprises in this game was that the Spartans only mustered 88 points and the L.C. dominated their projected average score with 64.
Denver Roncos 78.80 over Pirates 48.78 Surprise Rating: 6 The game of the week lacked much punch with both teams struggling to score. The Roncos didn't get anything special this week scoring 4 team TD's. The defending AFC Champion had eight starters score 5.55 or less and needed 18 from Jay Cutler to make it this close. Still, the Roncos had a rough week but had enough to dominate the Pirates with a 30 point win. |

Detroit Wolverines 68.79 over Georgia Gappers 45.65 Surprise Rating: 4 Welcome to the league, rook. The Gappers first game was simply horrible. No zeros from starters, but no double digits either. The Wolverines got a free win here, but had a few bright spots in the lineup. However, with two goose eggs from starters plus no kicker or defense, this team needs to cut a deal immediately if they want to snif the playoffs again in this division.

Toronto Argonauts 106.22 over Patriots Dynasty 60.76 Surprise Rating: 5 The great ironic game of the week as Tom Brady's team beats the Patriots Dynasty despite losing Brady early. Does that mean the Argonauts are toast? Hardly. Last year's scoring champ drops from almost certain Super Bowl Champ to very likely division winner and playoff threat. Without their start, they still managed 106 in a low scoring week. The task at hand now, find a new QB as Brady is the only one on the roster.

Anal at Bandcamp 75.73 over Kellens Kunt Krushers 56.97 Surprise Rating: 7 You have to love that schedule. AABC's division winning streak was extended to 19 games this week, but it would have been snapped if they played anyone but the Krushers. AABC only had two starters in double digits and only gained 75, which would have been at least a 20 point loss if playing either Vilma or the Chowderheads. For the Krushers, this is more of the same from last year. McNabb and Randy Moss scored big, but having two WR slots open all year will kill this team.

El Paso Bandits 88.34 over Hotsauce 84.00 Surprise Rating: 3 In what turned out to be the closest game of the week, the Bandits started on the right foot as they seek relevance in the league. A non-factor the past two years, the Bandits got 20+ point games from Phillip Rivers and Michael Turner leading them to their 4 point win. Hotsauce had the roster to beat the Bandits this week, but chose the wrong starters. Starting Chris Johnson or Jamarcus Russel would have landed Hotsauce the W.

Flaming Stewies 101.39 over Capt Acorn 63.18 Surprise Rating: 4 The surprise here is all Willie Parker with 24 points and out producing all of last season in terms of TD's in one week. The defending champ had a solid day all around with only 5 players missing double digits. Capt Acorn had three players score nothing and their only bright spot was the defense which went for 16. Acorn needs Shawn Alexander to get signed and produce with about half their cap going to him this season, which would also add some desperately needed depth

Vilma=God 117.31 over N.E. Chowderheads 93.25 Surprise Rating: 10 Oh snap! Vilma explodes for 117 over the heavily favored Chowderheads. Vilma had huge days from Aaron Rodgers and Hines Ward for a big week 1 win over a division foe who had a solid week. The Chowderheads were fourth in the league in scoring week 1, but it wasn't enough. Anthony Fassano and Reggie Bush carried the team, but -6 from JTO and missing Hank Basket's day killed their chances. This was a high output for a team with zero options at QB which made this loss sting even more.
