Week 8: Stretch Run
The Big Games:
Pirates (4-4) 102.33 - Detroit Wolverines (5-3) 71.85
The Pirates aren't out of the hunt yet.  This win puts the Pirates just one game out of the Wild Card and with a loss in front just two games out of the division.  With 5 games left, the Pirates can still storm back for a playoff spot.  The Pirates do lead every team in the Wild Card hunt except for the Wolverines in points, so they have an edge in the tie-breaker.  The Wolverines blew an opportunity to jump in front of the Argonauts this week, but still have a good lead in the Wild Card and a great shot at making the playoffs.

N.E. Chowderheads (6-2) 94.72 - Capt. Acorn (3-5) 83.06
The Chowderheads established themselves as the favorite for a Wild Card spot this week beating Capt Acorn gaining a 3 game lead over Acorn who is the #3 in the Wild Card.  It will take a huge collapse for the Chowderheads to miss the playoffs and is still tied with AABC for the division lead.  Capt Acorn on the other hand, has to start winning quickly since he is now down 2 games from any playoff spot.  A couple division wins can make it happen, but he needs to get it going sooner rather than later.

The Upsets:
Vilma=God (3-5) 76.65 - Somerville Spartans (5-3) 74.09
The Spartans could have used this one to take a commanding lead in the AFC West, but instead is back tied with the Baby Eaters.  The Pirates and Pat's Dynasty are also just one game out and this division could come down to the final three weeks of divisional play.  The Spartans missing the playoffs seems unlikey this year, but a win this week really could have put some teams away.  Vilma stays alive with a win, but needs a lot of wins from here on to make it in.  With a very low point total, only a complete turn around will get this team in.

Bush City Baby Eaters (5-3) 77.15 - Toronto Argonauts (5-3) 70.12
The Argonauts had a shot to put the Wolverines back and failed, but still had a good showing despite a ton of byes and injuries.  Instead the Baby Eaters pick up their 5th win of the year despite a low point total and are now in decent shape to make the playoffs.  They're tied for the Wild Card lead right now with a one game lead over the next team.  If they can pull off a couple more wins, they could surprise everyone with a playoff berth
