After saving her life, Rena invites Claude back to Arlia, her village, where she announces to a group of villagers that he is the Warrior of Light. The villagers begin to pick on her and wonder if he is her boyfriend. They tell her that she just missed Alen, a rich and handsome childhood friend of Rena, who had come to propose to her. He will be jealous if they are caught together.
Rena grabs Claude's hand runs from the crowd, taking him to a church. She tells Claude to wait there as she goes to get the town elder. Claude decides to wait in the church, and as he waits, he looks at the stained glass windows around him, which tell the story of the Warrior of Light. He notices one of the warrior holding the sword of light above his head. The resemblence is striking. Rena appears a few moments later and invites him back to her house.
After having dinner, Rena shows Claude to his room, where flops down on his bed. Rena sits next to him and Claude notices that she is staring. There is a moment of silence as it begins to rain and Rena mutters that she has "been waiting all this time." Embarrased, she apologizes and tells Claude to rest there as she goes to help clean up. Claude decided to take a nap.
Claude dreams that his father has come to save him. He asks how he can get back to his world, but his father tells him that he disobeyed orders and has brought this on himself. He tells Claude that he cannot help him now. He tells Claude that only one that can save him now is himself. Claude begins to beg, but his father still denies him. Suddenly, Claude begins to fall and then wakes up. As Claude lies in bed, a man with a club attacks him, but Claude dodges and the man falls on the bed as Rena tells him to stop.
As they sit around a candle, the old man reveals that he is Arila's town elder, Regis. He asks Claude's forgiveness, but he had to make sure. He found it hard to believe what Rena said, but now he agrees that Claude is the Warrior of Light. The elder explains to Claude that when the land of Expel is under attack, a legendary warrior wearing foreign clothing will appear. He will wield a great sword of light and shall save everyone.
The legend has been passed down for generations. And here is Claude with his foreign clothes. They believe that Claude's phase pistol is the Sword of Light. Positive that Claude is the Warrior of Light, Regis asks Claude to save them from the Sorcery Globe.
Their disaster began three months ago in Eluris, which is on the continent of El. It began when a meteor fell from the sky and crashed into Eluria. Soon after, strange occurences began to happen across the world. Animals turned into monsters and began eating humans, and natural disasters began to devastate cities. Even in Arlia, a place as far from everything as possible, there has not been a day without earthquakes. They believe that the cause of everything is the Sorcery Globe, also called the rock of evil.
He believes that Claude, as the Warrior of Light, is the only one that can destroy the Sorcery Globe. Claude insists that he is not the Warrior of Light. Regis insists that he is. Who else could he be? Claude insists that the legend is just a legend. Rena tells him that he has the sword of light. Claude says that it emits light, but isn't a sword. All Claude wants to do is return home. Regis tells him that if he is looking for information on how to do that, Claude should visit Salva, a mining city to the north. Since traveling can be dangerous, the elder gives Claude a sword to protect himself with. But, for tonight, Claude may rest at the elder's place.
The next day, Claude saves a girl named Yuki from several bullies. She tells him that they are just scum and to thank him she takes him to her store, where she sells jam, and offers him a discount for whenever he wants to make a purchase. He isn't interrested right now, but he asks her about a spaceship. Yuki tells him that she doesn't know what a spaceship is. Claude tries explaining the concept to her, but she doesn't get it.
Yuki does tell him that the two guys after her earlier were hired by the mayor's son, Alen. She tells him that he used to be the most popular man in town, but lately he's been an entirely different person. Alen said that he and Rena would have their wedding ceremony today. While running back to Rena, Claude finds that Alen has taken Rena. He gets in the way of the coach, demanding that Alen stop. Alen is holding an unconscious Rena at his side. Claude takes out his pistol, but doesn't shoot and has to dive out of the way as the horses and coach almost run him over. As it passes him, Rena's moon-shaped hairpiece falls to the ground near him, and Claude picks it up.
