THE COLD BRUTALITY BEHIND THE EVIL FUR TRADE

Every year, more than 40 Million animals are murdered for their furs, and many skinned alive, all in the name of fashion and cold-hearted vanity!

Such selfish arrogance and vulgarity, in wearing second hand fur that was once being worn by animals, prior to it being ripped off a warm blooded living animal, is crude, offensive, and disgustingly cruel.

Animals spend their days in barren, urine and faeces-encrusted cages, to become a coat, jacket, trim or scarf. The methods of slaughter are barbaric and often clumsy. Animals are gassed to death; have their necks broken; or electrocuted by having a rod inserted into their rectum or vagina and then 240 volts sent straight into them, literally burning their insides. So many times the voltage is set too low and the animal is electrocuted time and time again.

Many animals are still conscious when they are skinned, literally being skinned alive. Wild animals are also victims of the brutal and shameful fur trade. Caught in traps, they suffer excruciating pain for days, before the trappers arrive to stomp on their chest, or break their necks. Some animals, especially mothers desperate to return to their young, will struggle to get loose, even chewing or twisting off their own legs to escape. Animals such as beavers and muskrats, caught in underwater traps, can struggle for up to 20 minutes before drowning. Every year, traps cripple and kill hundreds of thousands of dogs, cats, birds and other animals, including endangered species.

Another victim of the fur industry is the rabbit; accessories made from rabbit fur are often cheaper than other animal skins. Rabbits are sensitive, smart animals, with individual personalities, just like dogs and cats. They make lifelong bonds with other rabbits and humans, and they are by nature, very clean. But like all animals farmed for their fur, rabbits are forced to live in tiny, filthy cages, surrounded by their own waste. They spend their entire lives standing on thin wires, and their slaughter is barbaric: their necks are broken or their skulls smashed, and some are skinned alive.
