We, the undersigned, strongly
object to the proposal of building a greyhound track at the Butts Stadium.
As well as
the injuries sustained by thousands of dogs a year on the racing track, we wish
to draw your attention to the cruelty, suffering and irresponsibility in the
dog racing industry as a whole.
Thousands of greyhound pups and young dogs are disposed of every year
and at least 10,000 are ‘retired’ from racing annually at an average age of two
and a half years. Very few of these dogs
are lucky enough to find a home – the rest are killed, exported to
We urge the council to act
responsibly and to refuse the planning permission for this proposal.
