Saving Animals From Exploitation
"keeping animal rights issues alive in Norfolk & North Suffolk"
Who we are and what we do . . .
Introduction . . . ..................home
Saving Animals From Exploitation was formed by a small band of animal caring Norwich people in 1999.
The group can trace its roots back to two organisations known as Norfolk Animal Rights Campaign and Norwich Animals Charter, respectively.
The former group was established in the city as long ago as 1982 and lasted for approximately one year, before the emergence of the Norwich Animals Charter in 1983.
The Norwich Animals Charter disbanded in 1994. By this time, the group felt its objective of setting up a charter for animals with the City Council had been realised and the founder felt more emphasis should be directed to supporting the Norwich & Mid Norfolk branch of the RSPCA.
Consequently, the city was left without an active Animal Rights group for the next five years.
Many of the founder members of S. A. F. E. were originally members of the two former organisations, so it is true to say that the current group largely owes its existence to them.
Since the group's formation, our members have been actively involved in peaceful campaigning for an end to all forms of animal cruelty and exploitation. Our aim is to continue this stance until legislation is introduced to outlaw all forms of animal abuse in the United Kingdom.
The group is also heavily committed to the care of animals in local sanctuaries, along with the maintenance and improvement of their facilities.
The group holds various fund-raising activities throughout the year to raise much needed cash to support local and national animal rights causes.
The group also has its own very successful information stall which covers all aspects of animal abuse, whereby educating and informing the public on ways in which they can become involved in and campaign against the holocaust of suffering.
We strongly support the work of organisations who promote and practise non animal research such as the UK's Dr Hadwen Trust and the USA's Americans For Medical Advancement.
We are totally opposed to all forms of:-
Bloodsports Although hunting with dogs has now been banned, some hunts continue despite this legislation. 'Huntwatch' monitors and liaises with the police to secure prosecution against those who continue to hunt our wildlife.
Vivisection eg. Xenotransplantation, animal experimentation and any form of animal abuse and exploitation for the furtherance of science, including the testing of drugs, chemicals, cosmetics and other consumer products.
Factory farming eg. intensive forms of meat, poultry, milk and egg production.
Animal breeding for the purpose of supplying to the fur trade, vivisection laboratories, science and medical education establishments, pet shops and for the supplying of livestock for the encouragement of bloodsports such as shooting.
Animal exploitation eg. the training and use of animals in circuses, zoos and aquaria, greyhound racing, horse racing and other such exploitation of animals in places of public entertainment, including television advertising.
Animal cruelty of any kind eg. to all farm animals, horses and other equines, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, all other small rodents and birds.
