Description

LOCATION: Clark Woods is a 27-acre parcel located off Wildcat Lane. It has also been known as Old Pond Meadows.

DIRECTIONS and PARKING: From Route 123 east turn right onto Circuit Street and proceed 0.4 mile to Pleasant Street. Turn right onto Pleasant Street and proceed 0.5 mile to Wildcat Lane. Turn left onto Wildcat Lane and proceed 0.9 mile to conservation area on right. It is difficult to see as the Conservation Commission sign is old and placed well off the road. The sign reads "Old Pond Meadows." There is no parking area off-street. Just beyond the entrance John Neil Dr. is on left where one may park on roadway. Wildcat Lane is 0.7 mile from South Street as an alternate access.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION: The trail leaves from the street on an old dirt woods road parallel to an intermittent stream. It takes an abrupt left, then meanders through a beech forest. The trail leads into a red maple and white pine swamp before it disappears into the undergrowth. Trail is poorly maintained and marked. There is flagging tape around some trees to mark the trail.

This area contains a 3-5 acre stand of Atlantic White Cedar.
