The first article was the first interview with Darren and Daniel in Norway. It was made before Savage Garden had their really big breakthrough. As you can see from the pics, Darren and Daniel are today two very different persons then they were back in 1997, and when you read the interview, you might see something that might not fit with the Darren (and Daniel) we know today...   Seems like some letters have fallen out from the scan, there is supposed to be a "D" after the "�" in the big writing you see across the interview. It's suppose to say "����NEI..IKKE BR�DBOKSEN" which means: "OH NOOO..NOT THE BREADBOX!!! Anyway, the rest of the interview goes like this: Darren: Because she laughs at my jokes - when I pay her... Daniel: Because she is always there for me. How many people have you kissed in 24 hours? Darren: Probably four, if you don't mean snogging? OK..I guess only one.. Daniel: Three....but I was 14 years old. What is the funniest word you know? Darren: (Laughs)Unterscrugle!!! It's a long story, but I promise you it's funny! Daniel: The expression "Fifthy to the Max". It's one of those bad Bon Jovi expressions. How do you act when you are in love? Darren: I blush, I sweat and my heart beats like crazy! Daniel: I turn on my charm, and I pretend I am cuter than I really am..and it works actually... How long can you cycle on one wheel? Daniel: Maybe four centimeters. Darren: I wouldn't be able to do it. Have you ever harrazed a girl you liked by phone? Daniel: One time I followed a girl around for three months. Darren: In High school I was in love with a girl named Angelique,and I used to walk past her house every single day for a year, and every time I got so nervouse I would shake. Later I found out it was the wrong house. Do you have a tatoo? What would you have and where? Darren: No, I dont have one. But I want one. It's just that I hate pain!! Daniel: No, and I dont want one either. What's the point if no one can see it? Are you saticfied with your own body? Darren: Yes, except that It would be nice to have arms like Brad Pitt. But I am healty, and a vegetarian, so that will have to do. Daniel: Yes, I guess so. What is your favorite christmas decoration? Daniel: Angels.. Darren: The sparkly and glamorous baubles Say something bad about Michael Jackson. Darren: No!! Michael Jackson is a wonderful person. I think people should leave him alone. Daniel: "Who's bad"? What is the weirdest hair-cut you have ever had? Darren: It was during the 80's. I had a cut like a lion, and one time I shaved the sides Daniel: One time my mother cut my hair so aweful, I was allowed to be home from school for four days! Do you bite your toe-nails? Daniel: No, of course not. Besides, I can't reach down. Darren: I can't reach down either, and I think feet are discusting. What would you do if you ever fell into a pool with sharks? Darren: I would probably die of fear. Ever since I saw "Jaws", I'v been "a bit" scared of sharks Daniel: I think I would have gone through a prosess of thinking before I would say goodbye to life. What is to you the worlds greatest cartoon? Darren: Now it is Ren & Stimpy, but when I was little I loved Scoopy Doo and Space Ghost Daniel: When I was little, it was Casper and Charlie Brown, and not it's The Simpsons How do you argue? Darren: Very well...I guess I'm pretty manipulating, and I try to tell the person I argue with that I'm right. So I kind of twist the situation to my advantage. Daniel: I dont argue a lot. I dont defend myself before I have to. What part in a movie would you like to have? Darren: Anything in a Star Wars movie. From a tree to Darth Vader. Daniel: I would like to play against Meg Ryan in a romantic comedie... Do you belive in love at first sight? Daniel: I believe that you can be attracted to someone, but not feel real love at first sight Darren: I believe in it, cause I have experienced it myself. What boyband would you want your son to play in? Darren: The one that earns the most money Daniel: In Take That. They have some pretty good songs How often do you wash your hair? Daniel: Everyday. Darren: Every third day. Iv got very "fine" hair. Whhat is the most embarassing thing you've done in bed? Darren: I was caught by my parents once...that was pretty embarassing. Daniel: One time I hit my head so hard we had to stop. The two questions Darren and Daniel decided to pass on was: When did you loose your virginity and Do you like your mother or your father the most? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About a year later,in 1998, Darren and Daniel were interview by the same magazine. This time they were bigger, and they had lots of good things to say about NORWAY! The heading says: "We are friends of Norway", and this is what the article says:  Darren Hayes (25) and Daniel Jones (24) is the name of the two guys we all know better as Savage Garden. Last time they were in TOPP they were barely getting the taste of success in the world of pop music. But the two young men from the other side of the globe (also known as Australia) handled the meeting with our breadbox pretty well. In April they were back in Norway again. Now as a tad more famouse popstars with the very successful hit "Truly, Madly, Deply" to be pround of. We wanted to try and get their feet planted on the ground (not that they weren't allready) and we asked them: What do you know about Norway and what do you like the most about it? And we wanted a the answers to be "truly" and "deeply" and maybe a bit "madly" and this is the results: What they knew: -Oslo, that is where we are now..the capital, right? - The building over there (pointing at the Norwegian Parliament) is the Parliament, it is very old...and the royal castle is on topp of that hill over there (yes, they are pointing in the right direction!) -Norway is the country in Europe that is furthest north!! -.....and the coldest!! -Norway is NOT Sweden!! - You have got a king called Harold...or isn't that his name? (We corrected the pronounciation a bit, but we were still impressed!) -You country lies almost diagonal on the other side of the globe compared to Australia -Norway has got almost as many weird animals as us, moose, reindear, polarbears (well...on Svalbard at least), brown bears, wolfs and foxes. - You are socialists!! (not at the mement, we could tell the surprised Aussies) -You are rich because of the oil! What they liked: The girls! They are the most beautiful ones in the intere world. All of them are beautiful, long-legged, slim and blond. We have never seen so many beautiful woman in such a short time!!!So we have just been here twice and mostly just in down town Oslo, but still. If I were to go somehwere to find my future wife, it would be Norway! We like the climate. We envy your four seasons. In Australia we have only two seasons, it's always hot and it can be a bit annoying..believe it or not! It's not that we love snow, but it must be pretty comfterable to breathe in the cool air instead of the hot and humide air in Australia. We like the hospitality. All norwegians are so helpful and nice. They don't role their eyes if you are a bit lost and need some advice. That is not the case in some places we have been. We like the beer. It's very good, almost as good as in Australia! [Back to Articles etc.] |
