| Do you want a lasting relationship with your horse, for your horse to trust you and vice versa? Wouldn't you love to walk outside or in the barn and have your horse want to come to you and love to be with you? If you have a horse then you better have a yes answer to all these questions and continue to read this! What I do is teach owners how to learn to train their own horse using Natural Horsemanship. I can tell you right now, from experience of course, that you will never get anywhere using forceful training. Your horse will never trust and will never be willing. You will have a horse who is always looking for a way out, fleeing from you and testing his boundaries. If you've ever worked with a scared, unwilling horse you know what I'm talking about. Not to mention you can (and will) eventually get hurt! Sure you can get your horse to do things by force, but, he will not enjoy working, and he will not love or respect you. Would you love someone who forced you to do things? I know I wouldn't! You will always be on your guard ( or should be) if your horse is spooky and scared. Horses are this way when they don't trust that their human partner will keep them safe. And they, in turn, will not want (or care) to keep you safe. Do you feel safe around someone you trust? Would you want to keep someone you trust and love safe? Mind you trust is not something that you can create over night. It takes alot of time and patience, but I promise you, all your hard work, dedication and love for your horse will pay off. Here are a few tips that I think are very important to remember.... *Praise constantly! How? By the tone of your voice & touch. Don't use food. *Don't do too much at once, master one thing at a time, then move on. *Horses are very social animals and want to be near you. When your horse is being naughty ignore him for a little while, he will look for your attention. *If you can't catch him then you shouldn't be riding him! *Remember, 1 second of natural horsemanship will last forever, but, 1 second of force will too....... |
