Clay Classes: Classes are scheduled to meet once a week from 6-9 pm. Each semester lasts 10 weeks. All classes subject to minimum of 5 students and max of 10 for beginning and 12 for intermediate and advanced. Class fee includes instruction, firing, and use of all supplies and equipment. See Calendar for class schedule. Wheel Throwing: Beginning: Learning to throw small funcitonal items in cone 10 stoneware clay. Also learning simple glazing. Intermediate: Learning to throw larger functional items in cone 10 stoneware clay. Exploring surface decoration such as slip and glaze trailing and sgraffitto. Advanced: Choice of: learning to combine hand built and thrown pieces or multiple thrown pieces into complex forms or learning to throw extremely large pieces or learning to design and throw sets of dishes. Hand Building: Beginning: Learning wet slab, leather hard slab, coil, pinch, drape and press mold techniques. Exploring surface decoration using stamps, rolletes, and found objects. Also learn simple glazing. Cone 10 stoneware clay. Intermediate: Extend knowledge of forming techniques. Explore slip and glaze trailing and sgraffitto. Cone 10 stoneware clay. Advanced: Learn to use the extruder to make slabs, boxes, frames, etc. Learn to maintain and troubleshoot the extruder. Advanced Studio Maintenance: Call or email for info.
