F.A.Q.

Q. What is a Yorkie-Poo?
A. A yorkie-poo is a hybrid breed. Typically a toy poodle is bred with a yorkshire terrier.  However, we may have litters out of a yorkie-poo bred to a yorkshire terrier, or a litter out of a yorkie-poo bred to a toy poodle.  This will always be specified on the nursery page.

F1 = 50% Yorkshire Terrier and 50% Poodle - This is Yorkie to Poodle cross, this is first generation, resulting in healthier offspring. Hair type can be long like a Yorkie, or wavy like the Poodle, pups in the same litter can vary.

F1-B = 25% Poodle and 75% Yorkshire Terrier (F1 Yorkipoo and Yorkie cross) - This is Yorkipoo bred back to Yorkie, Coat turns out more like the Yorkie. This F1-B hybrid type has been given the name Yo-Yopoo.

F1-B = 25% Yorkshire Terrier and 75% Poodle (F1 Yorkipoo and Poodle cross) - This is Yorkipoo bred back to Poodle, Wavy Curly shaggy look doodle very consistent in coat types.

F2 = F1 Yorkipoo and F1 Yorkipoo cross - this combination you get the same percentage of Yorkshire Terrier mix as you would an F1 Yorkipoo.

F3 = F2 Yorkipoo and F2 Yorkipoo cross

Multi-generation = F3 or higher generation Yorkipoo and F3 or higher generation Yorkipoo cross

Q. Do Yorkie-Poos shed?
A. No.  So you must be prepared to take your dog to the groomer or learn to groom yourself.

Q. Are they good with children?
A. I would say it depends on the child.  We advise young children to sit on the floor with the puppies as this will prevent the puppies from being stepped on or dropped.  Our puppies and dogs are quite playful much to the delight of children and adults alike!

Q. How big will your puppies get?

A. Our females are all around 7 pounds and the stud dogs are anywhere from 4 pounds to 7 pounds.  So we can estimate that the puppies will roughly be between 4 and 7 pounds when full grown.

Q. Do they travel well?
A. This will depend on how much you travel with your puppy.  The more you travel with them, they better they will become.  We feel that their small size makes them easier to take along with us.

Q. How do I reserve a puppy?
A. Please call or email to verify that the puppy you're interested in is still available.  You will be required to put down a non-refundable deposit to reserve the puppy of your choice.  As of September 2007, our policy on deposits has changed and $200 will be required to reserve your puppy.  So please be sure that you want the puppy as the deposit
will not be refunded.

Q. How does your waiting list work?
A. You can call or email to be put on our waiting list.  At this time we don't require a fee to be on the waiting list.  When a litter is born we will email those that are on the list before advertising the litter.  You will have one week to respond to the email.  If we do not hear from you, we will remove you from the waiting list.

Q. Will you ship the puppy to me?
A. No, we do not ship our puppies and have no plans to in the future.  We are willing to meet within a reasonable distance from our home.

Q. Is there a health guarantee?
A. Currently we do not have a health guarantee in place.  Perhaps, in the future we will set up a guarantee, but as of right now there is not one.  We can tell you that in the years that we've been breeding there have been no illnesses reported to us.

Q. How far are you from...??
A. We are in Northern Wisconsin.  We are about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Escanaba, MI, 3 hours from Milwaukee, WI, 4 hours and 40 minutes from Chicago, IL, 5 hours from Dubuque, IA, and 5 hours and 40 minutes from Minneapolis, MN.
