Northwood Flying Club
A cost comparison for getting a private pilot licence from us vs. rental, flight school, or other area flying clubs
Why Invest in a Flying Club?

Not only are you investing money into the solid and stable asset of aircraft, it is to save money over the long run while enjoying your hobby!

If you fly just under 200 hours over the life of your membership, you will have saved the cost of a full-share membership at Northwood Flying Club vs. renting a similar aircraft locally!

$72 dollars an hour renting locally - $30 dollars an hour at Northwood Flying Club = $42 dollars an hour difference......
$42 an hour x 200 hours of flying = $8400!
Investing pays for itself!

Refer to the comparison below to see how much you can save while earning a certificate!:
The FAR minimum for a Part 61 pilot is 40 hours of Flight time and 20 hours of instruction for a private pilot certificate.  The average liesure flight student takes longer than the minumum, around 9 months to a year to get a licence and flies about 65 hours to do so on average.
Flight Instruction rates at the flying clubs (A and B) are estimated, rate discrepencies will make only small differences in overall price.
Estimates below of flying rates do not take into account membership investment or deposit at Northwood Flying Club or deposit and membership fees at other clubs into figures..
