Buffalo University Football Coach Turner Gill is Winning His
Way Into History
The University Of Buffalo is the only division
1-A school that has an African American
football coach (Turner Gill), basketball coach,
(Reggie Witherspoon), and athletic director
(Warde Manuel). Coach Gill's Buffalo Bulls won
a 43-33 victory over Toledo on Saturday October
13, 2007. Turner Gill is winning despite a
schedule some say is tougher than need be for a
rebuilding team under a new coach. His team's
next game is against Syracuse whose head coach,
Greg Robinson is rumored to be on the hot seat.
Athletic Director Manuel says he is
optimistic about the future of sports at
University of Buffalo. Besides the success of
Coach Gill the basketball team is showing
improvement. Coach Witherspoon led the the
basketball team to their first post season
berth as a division 1-A team when they were
invited to the N.I.T. in 2005.
In addition to hiring Turner Gill as Head
Football Coach. Athletic Director Manuel also
hired Buffalo University's Senior Athletic
Director For Marketing / Senior Women's
Administrator, Anucha Browne Saunders, who
successfully sued the New York Knicks in a
recent well publicized sexual harassment trial.
