Turner Gill Scores Victory AS Buffalo Beats Ohio 31-10
Congratulations to former Nebraska Quarterback and assistant
coach Turner Gill now the head coach for the University Of
Buffalo football team that won over Ohio University with a score
of 31-10 last Saturday October 6, 2007. Before the Buffalo Job
Coach Gill worked in Green Bay as a player development director
and offensive assistant.
As a player he never lost a conference game as a starter and was
a Heisman Candidate (he lost to team mate Mike Rozier).
He was on the sideline for three national championships and
coached Heisman Winner Eric Crouch.
Turner Gill is from Fort Worth Texas and considered playing for
Oklahoma before he met Coach Tom Osborne and decided on Nebraska
where he had a vital role in three national titles as well as
playing quarterback in 1981-83 when he led the team to number 2
and number 3 national rankings with a 28-2 overall and 20-0 Big
8 conference record.
He went on to play in Canada making the playoffs 2 years
(1984-85) with the Montreal Concordes.
He's won various awards including Orange Bowl MVP and induction
into the Nebraska Football Hall Of Fame, He was hired at
Buffalo after a national search.
He and his wife Gale have 2 daughters Jordan (16), and Margaux
(12) and he is the 12Th winningest NCAA Division 1 Quarterback.
In 2006 Coach Gill's Buffalo team scored the most points in a
season (220) since moving to Division 1A.
Penn State Coach Joe Paterno says of him '"I think he's done a
good job with this club.
That's not an easy job up there, they've not had a lot of
tradition in their football program-----he's kind of turning
that around".
