New Jersey Devils - were the Kansas City Scouts and then the Colorado Rockies
Carolina Hurricanes - were the Hartford Whalers
Phoenix Coyotes - were the Winnipeg Jets
Colorado Avalance - were the Quebec Nordique
Anaheim Ducks - were the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim
The red line is painted this way because before colour TV was invented, they wanted a way for viewers to be able to decifer between the blue lines and the centre red line. It has just stuck around since then.

How many times since the creation of the NHL have two teams met in the Finals, of which neither had been in the Finals before? When was the last time it happened?
Four times the Stanley Cup Final has been contested by teams of which had neither won the Cup before. The last time being 1999, which featured the Dallas Stars against the Buffalo Sabres. The other times it occurred were 1996 (Colorado - Florida), 1991 (Pittsburgh - Minnesota), and 1934 (Chicago - Detroit). The first Stanley Cup of the NHL era featured the Toronto Arenas against the Vancouver Millionaires, Vancouver had won the cup pre-NHL.
Only once since the creation of the NHL has the final featured two teams that had never competed for the cup before, and that was in 1996 when Colorado beat Florida. To find the time it happened before that you have to go pre-NHL to 1914 when the Toronto Blueshirts beat the Victoria Cougars.
The last time Canadian teams were in back to back finals were 1993 Montreal (won cup over LA) and 1994 Vancouver (lost to NYR).
In fact, back then it was common place to have Canadian teams in the final. From 1983 through 1994, a span of 12 finals, Canadian cities were represented 12 times, including 1986 and 1989 where both teams were Canadian. Only 1991 and 1992 saw a Canadian-free finals.
If Yzerman were to retire, that would leave only two active players who have captained teams to Stanley Cup Championships. Joe Sakic captained Colorado to two championships, and would be the only current Captain to have won. Derian Hatcher, now of the Flyers, captained the Dallas Stars to the 1999 Championship.

Three times. The 2006 Red Wings (I hope you got this one), the 2000 St. Louis Blues, and the 1991 Chicago Black Hawks. The President's Trophy has only been awarded since 1986, prior to that, there was no award for finishing first overall in the regular season.
The President's Trophy winning team has either won the Stanley Cup, or lost to the eventual Stanley Cup winner, 14 of 19 seasons.

Scott Niedermayer has won all those championships, and you can include two more Stanley Cups in 2000 and 2003. Not bad for a guy who has another 10 years left in his career. Not much left for him to prove.

The last team to win three Stanley Cups in a row was the New York Islanders, who actually won four in a row from 1980 through 1983. Right before them, the Montreal Canadiens won four in row from 1976 through 1979. Right after the Islanders, the Oilers won five cups in seven years, but not three in row thanks to Steve Smith scoring in his own net on his birthday.
Only once in his entire career did number 99 not lead his team in scoring. It was the 1992-93 season when he played only 45 games. He scored 65 points that season and finished 6th on the Kings in scoring.
