MEXICO VACATION 2008
Our Mexican vacation was awesome.  The weather could not have been any better, the food was great, the resort was beautiful, lots of friends were there, and the kids stayed home with Nanny and Grandpa!  Hopefully we will be able to have a group vacation every couple of years because it was a ton of fun.
To the left is the main cast of characters who were on the trip (minus me of course because I took the picture).  From left to right they are Tanya, Kris, Zita, Sarah, Jenn, Dave, Jenn, Darren, and Justin.

Some of the supporting cast that made the trip amusing were:
Drunk family: Drunk dad, Drunk son, Little Drunk Son, Drunk mom, and Druncle
The speedo rainbow swim team: this was at least six guys with matching suits
Taquito: this was a actually a movie character in the movie the Hot Chick
Sesare: the Mexican tour guide
Green Bikini Girl
Mescal Mike and his trusty sidekick Drowning Man (we nearly saw both these guys die)
Emmanuel Sandhu:  apparently he has given up skating and now dances in Mexican resort shows
College Boy: This guy used to rule his high school as a senior, at least that's what he told the girls
Darren and I wasted no time in getting to the beach as we were there a day before the Halifax people.  The water and beach was awesome with some great snorkling.  Darren got some great pictures with his underwater camera (Note: if anyone finds an underwater camera while vacationing in Mexico and has the pictures developed and the people look like the people on this page, could you please send me the pictures because I would really like to see them).
The rest of the boys showed up and we spent some time relaxing on the beach.
Here are the ladies on the beach in Playa del Carmen.  Just a short ways from where we stayed.
The food at the resort was great.  Every morning I enjoyed a huge breakfast which required three trips to the buffet. It consisted of eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, pancakes, french toast, waffles, cereal, orange juice, chocolate milk, tea, and then fruit to try and balance things out.  Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day.  On Japenese night I ate some sushi for the first time ever - not as bad as I would have expected.  Moises, our chef, did all kinds of fancy tricks while he cooked our food.  The poor guy was a little confused when we tried to explain to him that there were some allergy concerns and could he try to keep the shrimp away from the chicken..  Total chaos ensued due to the language barrier, luckily Jenn took care of things with her Spanish language skills.
Apparently something on the beach spooked Justin, it may have been one of the 450lb men walking around in speedos.   Sarah looked cute walking around in her pink Blue Jays hat on our trip to Chichen Itza, and enjoyed a drink at the beach bar.  In the picture to the left you can see (well you really can't see) me and Jenn Bruce out parasailing.  It was the one thing I really wanted to do while there and thankfully Jenn really wanted to go as well.
I guess if you are able to balance a beer bottle on your head and dance, you can make a living in Mexico.  I proved at the pool bar later that this might be a new career path for myself.
To the left is a picture from Chichen Itza, it is one of the wonders of the world, built by the Mayans a really long time ago.  This is the one excursion I went on and it was pretty good.  The best part was the underground cave we swam in though.  If anyone finds that underwater camera, it has some good pics of that.
At this time I cannot confirm or deny that some Grand Serenis (our resort) towels accidently made it into our luggage on the trip home.
Here is Sarah and I enjoying a nice meal at the steak restauant.  The wine flowed well thanks to Kris.
The Doves and the Bruces relax with a drink in the lobby before we head out for dinner and a show.
THE DISCOTEQUE

We all head out to the Discoteque on the second last night for an evening of showing off our dance moves.  Tanya and Sarah were out on the floor singing along to the tunes and having a good time.  Kris is relaxing on the couch, although he apparently wanted to spend a little more time on the dance floor than he actually did.  Justin showed the Labradorians (I don't know if that is the correct term) can really move, but Tanya doesn't seem that impressed.  Darren's moves just don't translate well with still shots, but he was a machine out there.  Jenn appears to be doing the spank-spank dance move.
