History of the Northside Chapel First Church of God

The Northside Chapel First Church of God was started in 1965. Stanley C. Hoelle was the founder and first pastor of this congregation. The first building was erected in 1966 and 1967. Rev. Hoelle resigned as pastor on August 25, 1974.

In the same month after Bro. Hoelle's resignation from the church, Bro. Clifford Hutchinson of Middletown, began his "temporary" five-year stay as pastor of the church. Under Bro. Cliff's leadership, the church grew. Several lots were purchased to make the church grounds what it is today. On June 15, 1980, Bro. Cliff resigned as pastor of the church.

In July 1980, Rev. Jeff Nickell became Interim Pastor and permanent pastor in August 1980. Rev. Russell Hays became Associate Pastor. On February 28, 1982, the new church addition was dedicated. Late in 1983, Bro. Jeff resigned as pastor.

In 1984, Rev. Kenny Brewer became pastor of the church. Rev. Robert Stamper served as Associate Pastor and later as Interim Pastor. Bro. Brewer resigned on January 10, 1988.

On August 13, 1989, Rev. Lowell Lay became pastor of the church. He previously pastored in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He resigned in the spring of 1996 to become a pastor in Fairborn, Ohio.

In August 1996, Rev. Bobby Hollon became our pastor. He and his family had been pastoring in West Liberty, Kentucky. Through his leadership, we have radio programs and have added new additions to our church.
