| History of Rejoicing | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Introduction | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The wonderful tradition of rejoicing began during the '01-'02 marching season by seniors Alex Gude and Glen Powell. Upon noting that there was a need for some sort of preparation prior to competitions during the warm-up area for saxophones only, they came up with the idea of rejoicing. It entails raising one's hands and putting them in motion as indicated by the current section leader(s) of the saxophones. During that same marching season, there was an attempt by the trumpet line to overtake the saxophones in their quest to rejoice. It failed miserably and there was much rejoicing among the saxophones. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This part of the site is dedicated to the wonderful tradition of rejoicing. Rejoicing is a tradition, passed down through the ages, which involves saxophones, and saxophones only. It is something that has been valiantly protected over the years and remains close to every Evansville North saxophone line member's heart, both current and alumni. Enjoy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Rejoice #1: The Basic Rejoice Here, you extend both left and right hands into the air and look upwards. |
| Rejoice #2: The 2nd Rejoice In this rejoice, you simply extend your right hand upward as in Rejoice #1, but you put your right arm at an angle in front of your chest and you look upward in the direction of your right hand. |
| Rejoice #3: The 3rd Rejoice Extend both hands towards the ground with your palms out and look upward. |
| Rejoice #4: Going Down. (Downtown) In this rejoice, the leader of the rejoices states that we are, in fact, going down. To where do we go down? Downtown, of course! |
| Rejoice #5: We Got Wings! Here, the leader states that we got wings. After this has been stated, you move your fists up and down in front of your chest and extend your arms outward as you stand on one foot. |
| Rejoice #7: Foot Move This is by far the most difficult rejoice, only mastered by those of extreme experience and skill. You lift your right foot and hit it with your left hand and your right hand in front of your left leg. Then, you switch it up and do the same behind your left leg. At the end of this, you simply end in a Rejoice #1. |
| Rejoice #6: Assessing the Situation In this rejoice, you simply put your right hand behind your head, your left hand under your chin, and you move them (with spirit fingers) around until your right hand is extended outward and your left hand is behind your head. Simple enough. |
| Rejoice #8: Contemplating the Situation Here, you stroke your chin thoughtfully with yoru right hand while crossing your right leg over your left leg and pointing toward the sky with your left arm. |
