| - Seniors Report - Major League - Too much squelch for a game. Division One - Well Legends had the pleasure of a night game this weekend. The late notice and late start left the team understaffed. Five players from Div II helped fill in, and equiped themselves very welll. Workers fired early and Legends responded accordingly. Matty Ford pitched a solid game, but the Workers boys hit the ball well. In the end Legends went down by 1 in a thrilling finish that saw us chasing 4 runs for a tie. Yours Truly batter like a spastic with two K2's, but came through with a two run single (triple on fielders choice - dammit ... I hate running three damned bases). The Div II boys handled themselves well and we thank them for playing. Ginger hit two from four and took a number of excellent catches at centrefield. The loss was the first of the season for legends against tough competition. Division Two - Norths Cubs played Workers and came up trumps 9 - 8. No details available. Norths Bears went down about 23 - 12 to the other Workers side following a 10 run innings. The boys batted strongly, but couldnt match the consistent batting Workers displayed. Division Three - Northies went down to Stars by two in this game.. - Juniors Reports - Under 16's showed excellent character to win their game. Under 18's went down 10 - 5 to Workers. The boys were coachless at the bginning of the game (Benny Daley was tossed from the Powerhouse again we think). The boys fought back in the last ten minutes, giving the Workers crew a few nervous moments. A change in attitude and approach saw Norths draw a number of walks. The opportunity of men on bases allowed us to steal unchecked by the opposition. The momentum built and the boys quickly put four across the plate. A couple of quick outs followed and only one more run crossed before we conceded the game.. |
