LAB #5 DUE OCTOBER 10,  2003
Hello Class!
For this Friday, I would like to go off-text to hit some websites that
might be of interest to you. After you have completed all of these hits, e-mail me with your
ideas and impressions of the sites. By this I don?t mean ?I like it? or ?I don?t like it? but something
INSIGHTFUL! You can have a negative opinion; as long as you pay enough attention to have an opinion you will be doing your homework correctly!
First, Johns Hopkins has a virtual
engineering laboratory at:
http://www.jhu.edu/virtlab/virtlab.html
For the first part of your assignment, I'd like you to hit this site,
try at least three of the experiments, and send me an email message re your impressions of the site. Your response should have some content (such as: when I tried the robotic arm, I found it
difficult to articulate until i tried ...etc.) and not just generic
comments .
Second, the National Society for Professional Engineers website is at:
http://www.nspe.org.
Hit this site, look up a couple of topics that interest you, and e-mail
me telling me what you found at this site.
Third, go to the Discover Engineering website at (duh) www.discoverengineering.org and have a look around also.
Fourth, look at www.eweek.org for some information on National Engineering week.
Fifth, go to www.collegenet.com and perform a Custom Search with some interesting criteria. Tell me what you searched for and what you found.
Finally, look on the internet for a site of interest to you as an engineer.
E-mail me with the URL for that site, and tell me a little bit about
what you found there.
So, this week's assignment should be somewhat easier than the last two weeks.
When you e-mail, I will once again respond to you privately to tell you
if your work is complete.
Thanks,
Astrid
