| Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Reiki (and probably more) |
| This page is designed to answer some of the questions that you might have about Reiki. What is the Purpose of Reiki? Reiki provides energetic nourishment to both maintain and enhance Healing and Health. What is a Reiki Session Like? The Recipients lies fully clothed(except shoes) first on the back and then on the stomach. The Practitioner lightly touches various areas of the Recipient's body. Most people feel heat radiating from the Practitioner's hands and some can actually feel the energy itself flowing. Many people become so relaxed during a session (which usally lasts from 45 min. to an hour), that they fall asleep. Can Reiki Practitioners Heal Anyone? No. During a Reiki treatment, only the recipient can heal himself/herself; it must be the recipient's intent to use the energy to heal. The Practitioner serves as a "conduit" through which the energy can be drawn. How Is Reiki Different From Other Touch Techniques? There are several aspects of Reiki that are unique and positive. Since the Practitioner is a "conduit" for Reiki, there is no transfer of energy from the Practioner to the Recipient or from the Recipient to the Practitioner. Another great thing about Reiki is that once learned, Reiki can be given to oneself. Is Reiki a Religion? No. Reiki is a simple natural healing technique. Why Does Reiki Cost Money? Because Reiki Practitioners have to eat. Seriously, in order for Reiki to work, there must be some type of energy-exchange between the Practitioner and the Recipient. Money, as a compressed form of energy, is the usual form of exchange. Is Reiki a Substitute for Medical Treatment? Absolutely Not! Reiki is never intended to replace necessary medical or psycho-therapeutic treatment. It can, however enhance the benefits of all such modalities, as well as providing relief from the discomfort of the often invasive procedures and medications used in allopathic medicine. Can Reiki Help a Person Who Is Dying? Yes. Reiki can help ease the fear, anger and discomfort often experienced during transition. It can also be of great help in easing the stress and tensions of caregivers and grieving loved ones. ...and last but not least... Must I Believe in Reiki for it to Work? No. Reiki is not dependent upon belief to be effective, although a recipient with an open mind will feel the benefits more quickly. It has been written that one need not believe that an apple is delicious, one only needs to take a bite.( and I really wish I knew who wrote that so I could give them credit). |
