The Bible teaches that we should take care of widows and be compassionate toward their needs. The New Horizons was begun to do just that! This program has expanded to include the needs of older members.

The New Horizons is a group of retired men that meet every third Tuesday at Shoneys, 7:00 a.m., for breakfast and a meeting. A leader is appointed and leads the meeting in discussion with needs to be met. A devotional is also conducted.

Previous to the monthly meeting, a box is placed in the foyer of the auditorium. Widows are encouraged to put notes in the box with needs they have such as lawn mowing, painting, cleaning out brush, small carpenter items, etc.
The Sunshiners are a group of ladies that meet every second Tuesday in each month. These are our crafty ladies in the congregation. Some of the things that they do are:

* make gifts for all of our shut-ins monthly.

* make table decorations for the Golden Lunch Bunch monthly.

* provide birthday cakes for a nursing home monthly.

* take goody-baskets to the ICU waiting room at both hospitals. (The members bring items each week for the baskets).

* help with weddings and any other extra activities.
A dinner for all new members (those who have placed membership and baptized) is planned quarterly. This dinner is hosted by the elders, deacons, preachers, and wives. The wives prepare all the food.

During this time, each elder and deacon, presents the program of work that they are over and encourages involvement from the new members. Also, during the dinner, the new members are encouraged to sit with the members of their Group so they can get to know them better.
Though we are basically a young to middle-age congregation, concern for the elderly is obvious.

We conduct a devotional every Thursday morning at Northbrooke Health Care Center. Devotionals are conducted every second Sunday at Northbrooke Health Care Center, every third Sunday at Jackson Residential Care Center, and every fourth Sunday at Jackson Meadows. All of the Sunday devotionals are conducted at 4:30 p.m.

Our adult classes take turns conducting the Sunday devotionals at Northbrooke. Various volunteers present a Bible lesson, lead singing, read scripture and lead prayer. This is a tremendous opportunity to get more people involved.

The associate preachers coordinate all of these activities.
In order to appropriately respond to the numerous benevolent requests, a committee of three men has been appointed to repsond to these requests.  They follow detailed previously set guidelines in dealing with each request.

Non-perishable food items are stored at the church building.  These items are supplied by our members, and dispensed as the need arises.

When our members at North Jackson have special needs, these needs are taken care of without limits through the counsel and advice of our elders.

We also help with disasters locally and nationally.
Our bus is in operation for every service. A driver volunteers to drive for a month.

The van is used mostly by our young people for: weekly devotionals, Bible Bowls, summer youth series, camp, and various activities.

The bus is also used for transportation to area gospel meetings and activities by different groups.
The North Jackson Church works with Lifeline Blood Services to provide blood to our members as needed. The church is provided with a number and when members donate blood, all of the members and their families are covered to receive blood when needed.

During special blood drives sponsored by Lifeline. Members are encouraged to go and give blood.
Personal letters are mailed to every visitor from the preacher. Sympathy letters and booklets are sent to bereaved families. New parents receive a letter and booklet Children Wont Wait. Congratulatory letters are mailed to our members who receive honors.

The people who are baptized, restored, and place membership also receive personal letters. When members of the Church of Christ move to our area, a letter welcoming them to Jackson is sent.
