The visitation program is essential for growth in the church.  This program is basically a visitation program, however, the ultimate goal is to prepare every team member to be a soul winner.

This program is not publicized and based on the conviction that there are people in the congregation who earnestly desire to do more in the way of personal visitation, but need the encouragement of an organized program.

The program is made up of four or eight visitation teams, which are equal in number.  Each team will meet once a month on Tuesday night at 6:30 for a meal and fellowship.  The meeting can be in a home or at the church building.  Team 1 will meet the first Tuesday, Team 2 on the second Tuesday, Team 3 on the third Tuesday, and team 4 on the fourth Tuesday.  After the meal, the team captain will give each couple two cards that have been filled out with information about the person to be visited.  The visits should be made and cards turned in within twelve days.  If the team member cannot be present for the meeting, a fill-in couple is invited.

People to be visited are: absentees, visitors, sick, bereaved, new members, new converts, new parents, newcomers to the community, and the spiritually weak.
The Door-to-Door Campaign is conducted every third Saturday in each month with the exception of the coldest months.  We meet at the church building at 10:00 a.m., get on the bus and are dropped off in a particular neighborhood.  We leave a brochure in every door.  We do not ring the door bell.  Thus far, brochures have been left in over 30,000 doors.  As of September, 1999, we have canvassed all of the houses within a three mile radius of our church building six times.

As a result, we have had visitors, people to enroll in Bible correspondence courses, and home Bible studies conducted.
The North Jackson Church provides weekly sermon tapes for shut-ins.  The Groups deliver to the people in their particular group.

A tape catalog lists the tapes by number, date, subject, and speaker.  A catalog is located on a table in the foyer.  Any member or visitor can order any tape by filling out a tape request envelope.  Tapes are provided at no cost for those who want to listen and return the tape.  Tapes can be purchased for $1.50 each which includes two sermons.

All master tapes are filed in the conference room.
The North Jackson Church of Christ is concerned that new members (those who place membership, those who are baptized or restored), and newcomers to our area that visit our services are made to feel welcome and a part of our family.

Three or four families decide they will work together for a period of time. They meet monthly for fellowship.  The criteria is that they invite a newcomer family to meet with them.  The families take turns meeting in each others homes, restaurants, or picnic areas.  A different newcomer family will meet with the fellowship groups each month.  So, the newcomer soon gets to know many people at North Jackson.

Friendships are formed and the newcomer soon feels at home.  Hopefully, they will choose to also become part of the fellowship groups.

One of the deacons works with this program.  The preacher and deacon work together to distribute names of newcomers that need to be encouraged.

GROUP PROGRAM

The North Jackson Church makes a concentrated effort to care for and show love and encouragement to each member.  This is basically done by the entire church being divided into as many groups as we have elder (in our case five).  The deacons are then distributed among the groups having the same number in each group ( in our case, four in each group).  Each deacon has special assignments within his group.

The congregation is then divided into groups such as: Group #1 A,B,C; Group #2 D, E, F, H;  Group #3 I, J, K, L, M; Group #4 G, R, S; Group #5 N, O, P, Q, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z.  The people in each group take care of the needs in their group.  For example: when a group member is in the hospital, when there is a death, transportation to a doctor, etc., food for the sick and bereaved, absentees, bridal & baby showers the groups take care of these things.
