| LAWRENCE CHEUNG |
| Height: 6'
Weight: 195 lbs. Hometown: Toronto, Ontario Alignment: Lawrence is a face. His manager is most definitely not. Theme Music: "Ten Ton Hammer" by Machinehead. (Historically, "Get In The Ring" by Guns N' Roses.) Appearance: Military. Cheung's ethnic background is half-Jamaican, half-Korean, and it's given him Asian colouring and very defined, square facial features. His hair has been the same flattop for four years. His body used to be incredibly chiseled. Steroids blew it out of proportion. He's off them now, and has lost weight accordingly, but hasn't stuck to the same regimen he used to after a knee injury. Ring Attire: Shirtless, always. Camouflage pants/shorts. Wrestles barefoot. Personality/Gimmick: Lawrence used to be the biggest draw in the Coalition of Affiliated Leagues. He had a year-long, incredibly heated, incredibly personal feud with "Iceman" Sam Carnage. His singles record against Sam Carnage is 0-2. His record against TJ Killingbeck is 0-2. His record in CAL title matches is 0-4. His record in ALL HIS OTHER MATCHES is undefeated. This is important to the way he thinks of himself. He retired for a calendar year. He has only wrestled for a year and a half of his life. He has been at the top of his sport, and below the bottom of it. Right now, his personality in NPW is strictly business. He is there because he can't stand being out of wrestling, and for no other reason. He doesn't talk much. Mark Gallant is there for other reasons. Mark Gallant talks much. Common Maneuvers: Lawrence Cheung is a martial artist, who learned to be a submissionist when he took up wrestling. His moveset is very, very limited. These are all the moves he knows how to do. Apart from these, he punches a shitload, kicks more, and strings them into combinations. - Rolling hip toss - Ankle lock - Elevated figure-four leg lock - Mexican surfboard - Side Russian leg sweep - Bow and arrow suplex - Axe kick - Sambo suplex - Diving powerbomb - Torture rack into backbreaker (called the "Code Red". Ganked from Lance Marshall.) - Boston Crab (called the "No Escape". Ganked from Ben Van Iten.) Trademark Moves: - A three-kick combination : standing sidekick, roundhouse, crescent kick. - "Killer Instinct " : a second-rope piledriver. Lawrence Cheung has used this in competition a grand total of twice. It sets up the "Basic Training" when he desperately needs it to, and nothing more. When he pulls it out, it matters. Finisher: - "Basic Training" (a STF that has historically been sold like he's attacking the victim with a chainsaw. Lawrence provides appropriate facial expressions.) Three Strengths: - Style. Nobody fights like Lawrence Cheung, and nobody really knows how to counter it. - Ring sense. Cheung isn't a wrestler, but after a year of facing the best, and being trained by Sauve Descartes, he knows exactly where to be, all the time. - Mystique. Cheung was a phenom and he won a whole lot of matches. He's also really over. Unless you're one of a select few wrestlers who has him figured out, he's hard to match up against. Three Weaknesses: - Mental games. - Frustration. - Sam Carnage. |
