October meeting in a nutshell . . .


Councils Guides available (2 per troop). November will be the last month of lugging these to meetings. They're heavy!

Troop 1742 is working on their Bronze Award. They are collecting items to donate to the troops in Iraq. They would love support from their fellow troops. Some of the items they are collecting include:
-non-perishable food items
-movies
-magaines
-black pens
-small prizes to give to Iraqi Children
-gift cards
-bag candy
-gum
-personal hygiene items
-playing cards
-sporting goods
-video games


Using Our Resources/Leader Directory - We will be updating our Resource Guide and Leader/Troop directory.

If you have a talent and are willing to share/teach other troops please fill out form or let Cari P. know by November 1st.

Trainings -
"Cover Your Assets" following the November leader meeting at 7:45 pm. - There can be a lot of paperwork involved in managing money that is not your own. join us for a practical examination of managing troop funds in a wy that "covers the assets" of everyone involved who handles money.
"Zink the Zebra" following the January Leader meeting at 7:45 pm. - Find out how Zink can teach respect, compassion, understanding, and acceptance of others toyour Daisy, Brownie, or Junior girl Scouts. These sessions can help in dealing with conflict resolution, pluralism, and disabilities issues while reinforcing the use of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
CPR/First-Aid will be scheduled in May 2007.

Registrations will be checked for all events. ALL girls MUST be registered at every Northern Lights event.

Sock Hop is Friday, November 10, 2006, 6:30-8:30 pm at St. Peter's O'Reilley hall. Cost is $3.00 which includes admission, a patch and a snack. Please bring a pair of socks to donate to Alley Shoppe. All girls must be registered. No siblings please.
Please list names of the girls attending. REGISTRATIONS WILL BE CHECKED.
Tickets must be sold in advance. There will be no tickets available at the door.

Service Unit Manager (in-training) - Joan & Cari need someone to "shadow" them for   the remainder of the year. Joan will stay on for one more year. Cari will be stepping down after this year.

Emma's Place - Permanent housing for single mom's with 4 or more children. Looking for a troop/troops to help with programming for these girls. Junior troop or older. Meetings need to be held at Emma's Place unless transportation to some events can be coordinated.
