December meeting in a nutshell . . .

Girl Scout Derby is January 27, 2007. Cars are available for $4. registration is an additional $4.
The workshop is scheduled for January 13 & 14 at the Eichler's. They graciously open their workshop to parents/girls who do not have access to power tools. There will be helpers at each station to assist if needed. Bring a design (available on the internet, search "Pinewood Derby cars")
Weigh-in is Friday, 1/26. Cars must weigh 5 ounces (or close to it).
Call Sheri at 777-6396 to register for race or to reserve a spot for the workshop.

Encampment is September 28-30, 2007 at Lakamaga. Thank you Teri R., Terry G., Wanda R. and Mary Z. for stepping up to plan this event!!!!
The theme is New York, New York. Registrations will be held in April & May.

Visiting Artist is Saturday, February 10, 2007 at North Presbyterian.. the theme this year is "It's great to be a girl!". Cost is $1.00/girl.
Each girl should bring an item for a birthday bag (i.e., cake mix, box of candles, invites, can frosting, little prizes). All items will be donated to Alley Shoppe.
AM session - 8:30 am - noon
PM session - 12:30 - 4 pm
Limited space, so register early!

Cookies - Trainings for "Cookie parents" have been held. Cookies will arrive Tuesday 2/20.

Sundae Funday is March 11, 2007. Sign-up sheets to run the games will be at the January meeting.
Sundae Funday is a small carnival that funds next year's Visiting Artist program. It is open to families, friends and the entire community.

Annual Giving Challenge starts next month with the Service Team. In February and March it will be up to the Leaders to meet or beat the amount collected by the Team. Then, in April and May it will be presented to families.

Trainings -
"Zink the Zebra" following the January Leader meeting at 7:45 pm. - Find out how Zink can teach respect, compassion, understanding, and acceptance of others toyour Daisy, Brownie, or Junior girl Scouts. These sessions can help in dealing with conflict resolution, pluralism, and disabilities issues while reinforcing the use of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
CPR/First-Aid will be scheduled in May 2007.

Spaghetti Dinner -
Troop 390 is having a spaghetti dinner to raise money for a trip to Washington D.C. in March of 2008. It will be held at the American Legion in NSP on January 14, 2007, 3:30 - 6:30 pm. Mark you calendars!

Service Unit Manager (in-training) - Joan & Cari need someone to "shadow" them for   the remainder of the year. Joan will stay on for one more year. Cari will be stepping down after this year.

Emma's Place - Permanent housing for single mom's with 4 or more children. Looking for a troop/troops to help with programming for these girls. Junior troop or older. Meetings need to be held at Emma's Place unless transportation to some events can be coordinated.
