August 2008 meeting in a nutshell . . .

New Member Night: Will be held on September 16th from 7-8pm at Richardson  if you are able to help out please be there at 6:30 to set up.

Fall Round-up Parade: Sept. 20th at 3pm Line up numbers have not been asigned yet I will send out a email when we get that info.

Finance Report
s for 2007-2008 are now PAST DUE.
Please get those into Carole. She will be listing names and troop numbers next meeting.

Leadership Essentials:
This 3 hour training, which is provided in either a classroom session or self study shows leaders how to work with the new Journey books and apply the girl-led, learning by doing and cooperative learning leadership processes with thier troop. This training replaces the previous Girl Scout Basics and Age-Level Training. Leader ship Essentials  will be offered in 2 sessions, one for new leaders and one for returning leaders to ensure all leaders are familliar with the new Girl Scout Leadership Experince and the Journery Books. This training is required of all new and returning leaders.

Programs And Training:
All trainings are listed on the St. Croix Vally Website. Learning opportunities will be added and updated on a regular basis.

2008-2009 Programs features many new coucil sponsored program events to engage girls in Girl Scouts. To use the online search go to www.girlscoutsrv.org for more details on all 1.100+ programs

Out door Training;
Beyond the Troop ( formerly Outdoor Training) Thanks to the hard work of a wonderfully dedicated goup of volunteers, River Valleys outdoor training has been redesigned to povide taining activities beyond the traditional troop mmeting. The training includes indoor as well as outdoor cooking skills, progression steps from indoor slleping events to tent camping outings and extended trip perparation for U.S. and internation travel.

Diamond Troop Patch:
This patch takes the place of the super troop patch but is the same thing just new name due to the merger. Six different catergories are higlighted, included Membership, Family, Tradition, Diversity,& Inclusiveness, Beyoind the Troop, and Outdoor. Troops complete the requirements in each catergory, record the activities and return the completed form by August 30, 2009 to purchase the Diamond Troop Patch. Watch for the official launch of the program early this fall on River Valley wesite.
