The Northern Lights Goat
Association was founded in the late spring of 1993 when a group
of dedicated goat owners from northern Wisconsin and the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan decided that the area needed a means of
networking the concerns and needs of the northern goat breeders.
The NLGA's members include both commercial dairies and backyard
hobbyists that have not only dairy goats, but pygmies, Nigerians,
Angoras, and a variety of meat goats. The Northern Lights Goat Association meets bi-monthly with a potluck dinner. Due to the large area served by the club, which encompasses northern Wisconsin and portions of neighboring states, the meeting location is rotated in order to encourage greater participation. The club actively sponsors a number of activities to help promote and educate the public, fellow goat owners, and 4-H youth. |
