Our first concern, of course is safety. Racing is dangerous, but can be FUN. We allow almost a cage built around the driver from sturdy, and easily assembled components. We don�t want vehicles put out of action by putting drivers out of action.
Station wagons, sedans, or hardtops are acceptable. No Chrysler Imperials, Lincoln Continentals, ambulances, convertibles, or hearses are allowed.
Demolition Derby Full Prep Rules
ITEMS YOU MUST DO TO YOUR CAR:
1.Remove all glass, plastic ornaments, lights and bulbs. Car must be clean of loose objects and glass. Chrome side-trim; hubcaps and wheel weights must be removed. All trailer hitches, gas tanks must be removed. All pot metal must also be removed. We must have very clean cars to run event. Remove all upholstery except front seat.
2.Engines and transmissions must remain in stock position.
3.Drivers and passenger doors must be reinforced. Use either cement or steel bars. Combination cement and door bars are acceptable. If you use cement-door must be 2/3 full. All doors must be securely fastened shut by means of strong metal bar clamps or chain with a bolt. You may use channel iron, I beam or box steel. (The end of the bars must be bevelled or rounded, maximum length 72�long). Bolts holding bars to car must go through entire door or fender, not just outer skin. Any good-sized washer is allowed. Bolts must not extrude beyond bars within reason. Door bar can only extend a maximum of 8 inches ahead of front fender door seam. Pipe, �grader blades,� railway ties, or angle iron is not acceptable. If the driver�s door bar falls off during the race, the car is disqualified. Minimum thickness is 3/16�.
4.A cross brace should be used in front as a dash bar mounted above steering columns that is connected to the door bars. Crossbars must be within reasonable size (2� to 6�). The rear cross bar must be mounted from door bar to door bar to the floor, but not to the frame.
5.A chain or bracket must hold steering column up to the dash or cross bar. Must be secure and enough room for feet.
6.A sturdy metal headrest should be in all cars. Either door post to doorpost, or floors to roof types are acceptable. Headrest must be bolted, not welded to the floor or the roof. Headrest bracket can be welded or bolted to top of cross brace. Post to post type must be below top of the front seat and headrest pad must be flat, padded and have minimum of 6 to 8 inches.
7.Hood and trunk may be fastened down in six places. A windshield restraining bar or chain must be installed from cowl to roof. Welding is not permitted. 1-inch redi-rod, or all thread is maximum size for bolts. Hood hold down bolts cannot be installed in front or behind the rad. On trunk and hood you may use two bolts two the frame. Washer plate size 5�x5� or not larger than 25 square inches in each place. All hoods must have holes on each side of the carb for fire extinguisher accessibility. You must have a suitable flame arrestor on your carb. All front-hinged hoods (i.e. 59 ford, t bird, etc.) must have a chain around rear of hood and dash or firewall.
8.All gas lines and fittings must be leak proof. If gas lines are put in side they should be copper or steel. If plastic, run inside of garden hose or heater hoses where they go through the firewall, etc. Gas lines must go in to top of tankNO BOTTOM FEED TANKS ALLOWED! Metal jerry cans or boat tanks are allowed with flash shield. Gas line must be clamped down in some areas especially near driver. Electric wires cannot be wrapped around gas lines. Wire must be wrapped where it passes through firewall. Relocate gas tank to back seat. Remove stock tanks .
9.Bumpers must be make for make (i.e. GM for GM, Mopar for Mopar, Ford for Ford). All bumpers must be chained to the body of the vehicle. Chains must be minimum 3/16� thick, maximum �� thick and must not be wrapped around frame.
10.Battery must be located on the floor inside of the car. It must be secured and must be covered. Maximum of two batteries per car.
11.Radiator must remain in stock position. Must remove Anti freeze.
12.Transmission dipstick should have 3� long piece of �� hose, fitted tightly over the end of it to prevent fluid overflow in to the exhaust. This hose must be mounted away from the exhaust system.
13.Electric switches must be uniformed. Up or forward for on, down or back for off.
14.You must have good working 2-point seat belt. Please remove ratchet style belts or make ratchets solid.
15.You must run mud flaps. Made out of rubber i.e. floor mat screwed to inner fender on drive wheels.
16.PAINTED VECHICLES A MUST. We must try and clean up our sport.
17.Roof top signs will be black on white or white on black. Numbers 18� high by 2� wide.

OPTIONAL ITEMS:
1.Wheel wells and bumpers may be trimmed.
2.Motor and transmission mounts may be strengthened by use of chain or weld .
3.Bumpers: We want the bumpers to stay on the cars. However we do not want people making battering rams out of this situation. If you wish to weld your stock bumper to the stock frame and to the stock bracket, this is acceptable. You may also weld the shocks on the bumper. Chained bumpers are a must. You may also trim bumpers.
4.Tranny coolers. If tranny cooler is used, should be mounted in the passenger rear compartment. The cooler must be in an in closed box with hole in the bottom and through the floor for drainage. All lines must be made of either steel or steel reinforced hydraulic hose with proper high-pressure fittings/ couplings. Lines must be secured to vehicle. Tranny cooler box must be securely mounted. If reservoir is used, it must be �� thick steel, and must be pressure tested. Reservoir must also be securely fastened.
IF YOU CANNOT DO THIS PROPERLY- THAN DON�T ATTEMPT IT!
1.Firewalls can be hammered back or cut away to allow distributor clearance. May use rubber mat to cover firewall.
2.Any types of fuel pumps are permitted.
3.Drive shafts may be welded. On coil spring vehicles, rear springs may be tacked in or hose clamped. Universal joints may be strengthened.
4.Steering columns may be modified and strengthened.
5.Modified or dual exhaust or headers are allowed.
6.Motor swaps are allowed. Must remain in front of firewall. Carb swaps and adapter plates permitted.
7.Tires may be screwed to rim. Wheel well openings may be enlarged and sharp edges must be made safe by bending over. You may screw or bolt or weld wheel wells. Two metal strips can be welded on either side of the valve stem on wheels.
8.Distributor plates can be used, but must not reinforce any part of the car. Must stay behind grill and only 3/8� thick or less.
9.Rear end may be lock.
10.You may use only (6) 3/8� bolt and maximum of 1� washers around fire access holes. 3/8� nuts and bolts and 1� washers may replace Hood hinge bolts.
11.You may use mid body clamps anywhere in passenger compartment down to the frame. They must go through the level part of the frame, not further back on curve or hump. A maximum size bolt/ nut is 1�. No kickers.
12.Any type of fuel pumps permitted.
13.Bucket seats and floor shifters are permitted.
14.On hard top cars you may add a vertical bar extending from door bar or door; to roof on drivers and passengers windows. Must be secure.
15.You may pre crease your vehicle.
16.You may join the rad hoses together by using a pipe or a fu-fu valve.
17.Air conditioning condensers are allowed. Electric fans allowed.
ITEMS YOU MUST NOT DO TO YOUR CAR:
1.NO trailer hitches are permitted, remove its frame and all its components. Also NO reinforcing of wheels, rad base, etc. Absolutely NO reinforcing of the frame will be tolerated.
2.NO seam welding of floor panels, etc. You cannot pre weld frame seam joints.
3.NO antifreeze.
4.NO tires allowed beyond 8 ply. They must be D.O.T. approved. NO industrial or forklift tires allowed. Passenger tires only. Studded tires are prohibited. Only one inner tube in tires. NO rags, additives etc.
5.Exhaust- do NOT remove head pipe. Muffler and tailpipe may be cut off. Headers through the hood are accepted.
6.Extended spring or reverse shackles not permitted if it raises the vehicle beyond stock height.
7.No more custom channel iron bumpers please.
8.NO! Obscenities or foul language on vehicles. (The result would be a visit to see BUBBA!)
9.NO KICKERS AT ALL
SAFETY RULES
1.Entrants must be 16 years of age or older, with parents consent form signed.
2.All drivers must wear approved helmets and safety glasses or goggles. Seat belts must be worn.
3.Driver is advised to pad their steering wheel centres and drivers door.
4.Drivers must remain inside vehicle during events and also keep head and arms inside vehicle.
5.All vehicles will be checked for working brakes. They don�t have to be 100%, but must be working.
6.Clothing- long sleeve shirts, or jackets, or coveralls, or long leg pants/ fire suits are strongly recommended. Your appearance is very important
7.If an official deems something unsafe, it must be corrected before you can run your vehicle in the next event (Think safety first).
DERBY RULES:
1.Any one under the influence of Alcohol or Drugs will not be permitted to drive.
2.Jerry cans with your car # on tank must be kept in the fuel cage located in the pits.
3.When using torches must have fire extinguisher on hand. (Don�t want to burn those steaks!)
4.All pits must be kept clean. You must remove all debris when you leave. Including TIRES!
5.Cars must be derby ready for best appearing.
6.Intentional hit on the drivers side door, will result in an automatic DISQUALIFICATION.
7.A GREEN flag will indicate START, and a RED flag will indicate an EMERGENCY. All vehicles must STOP and or leave the track, as directed by one of the officials.
8.There is a 90 SECOND rule now in place. Drivers must START your stalled vehicles and make a hit within this time or you will be DISQUALIFIED.
9.Last aggressive hit will win the heat.
10.All vehicles must be inspected for safety, prior to the start of the derby. Absolutely NO after factory reinforcement will be permitted. All cars winning their heat will be taken aside immediately after the heat and picked up and inspected for any reinforcing. IF any is found, the car is DISQUALIFIED, the second place car will then move on to the final.
11.When repairing damaged vehicles no material stronger than what you are repairing or replacing may be used. Material must be stock and can be welded into position. No frame welds. To repair broken leaf spring shackles extra chain can be used.
12.OFFICIALS DECISION WILL BE FINAL!
13.Penalties will be levied if these rules are not followed.
