Mom's Bio
I am the fourth child of the five offspring in my immediate family. Two older sisters, one older brother, and one younger brother. The youngest of my two older sisiters passed away on March 14, 2002, due to complications of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.

After graduating from
Ogdensburg Free Academy, in 1984, I entered my freshman year of college at Mohawk Valley Community College, where I majored in Accounting. In the fall of 1987, I transferred to Mater Dei College, and earned an A.A.S. degree in Small Business Accounting.

Most of my emoployment experience was acquired in the fields of Accounting and Customer Service. I was only about 10 years into the workforce, when I realized that I was not happy in my career. I felt like there was something missing in my life and I wanted to learn another trade that would bring me a sense of pride and accomplishment. After working 2 1/2 years as a
Medical Records Clerk, I left my job and enrolled at Suny Canton, as a fulltime nursing student. In June 1999, I earned my license, to practice nursing, in New York State, as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  While I truly love and enjoy nursing, and working to help people who need help, the demands of the field took a toll on my physical abilities as well as my ability to be able to balance homelife and career.  I am confident that I will one day return to the field of nursing, and perhaps even further my education.  In the meantime, my son is blessed with the opportunity to have his own personal assistant and tutor in the home.
Me
As a new mom, I survived one of the most stormy periods in my life. At a time when I was supposed to be happy and content with having a new baby, I was sad and miserable.  Looking back on it today, I recognize the symptomology of Postpardum Depression. Though at the time, I never would of imagined that I would be affected by this terrible, but temporary, disorder that affects 70 - 80% of new mothers. Without adequate treatment, it took me the better part of a year to recuperate, and regain the physical and emotional strength I needed, to live up to the expectations of being a good mother. I have been a single mother for nearly 13 years, now, and although parenting can sometimes mimic a roller coaster ride, being a mom is still the most rewarding job that I'll ever experience, in my lifetime.
