My maternal grandparents both passed away before I was even old enough to understand what "Death" was all about.  Dad's mother and father lived to be 94 and 82, respectively.  My grandmother, on my father's side, was known as the "Patriarch" of the family.  The dedicated Christian woman that she was, it was her duty to see to it that all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren were all baptismaly blessed.  She had a great sense of pride within her church community and proud to have so many grandchildren among her.
Both of Alexander's sets of Grandparents are still living today.  He has two very special Grandmothers, whom he developed a close bond with at birth, when they both served as birthing coaches in the delivery room, when Alex was born.  I couldn't think of two more deserving people I would have wanted to witness such a wonderful miracle of life.  Though Alex's paternal grandparents have long since moved away, my parents are still very much a part of his every day life.  He is especially fond of and close to my mother.
