Arra
Delong was born to Arra and Diannah Anna (nee Barton) on October 28,
1836 in Prince Edward County, Ontario. His parents emigrated to Canada
from Poughkeepsie, New York. Arra married Jane Adelaide Clark on May 1,
1862 and they had four children:

Arra inherited part of his father's
farm in Ontario, but sold it to his brother William Egbert and moved west
to Morden, Manitoba by 1881. The first home they lived in was a log house
on a hill, one mile south of Morden. About 1899 they moved into town across
the street from a log schoolhouse Arra built and which was attended by
two of his children, Beatrice and Frederick.
Arra passed away on February
16, 1909 at the age of 72. His wife Jane lived another three years and
died on February 12, 1912 at the age of 70. |
